ABOUT ME

Restless, always want to do and learn something new, get bored easily if my life is the same for too long. I'm fascinated by the magic that is physics, and the philosophical side of physics. I've also studied a bit of Psychology in Australia. I used to be a know-it-all, until I started travelling and learned about the relativity of truth. I love to meet new cultures with new habits and religions, who tell me that all my opinions are wrong and that there is a better view. I love discussing anything from philosophy to music.

PS. I'm Dutch, not British. Only studying in England.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Started a few weeks ago (Aug 2013) and have stayed with many hosts since. It is very addicting, and I can't wait to experience the rest of the Gulf states with CSers.

Interests

I also try to surf wherever I can, just started with Canoe Polo, I played water polo and since I'm studying in Oxford I have to row of course. Basically everything in or under water! Besides that I like ballroom & latin dancing.

Want to discuss religion vs science, consciousness, the meaning of life, free will or any other topic? Buy me a pint in the pub and we'll debate far past midnight.

When travelling I usually don't take time to go partying, but prefer architecture, culture and nature. My number 1 preference is getting to know the locals through a job, couchsurfing etc. Apart from that I'm most excited by trips to fjords, glaciers, deserts and waterfalls.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Symphonic Gothic Metal (basically the only type of music Dutch people are actually kind of good at)

Books: all fantasy books: Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Sword of Truth.. love them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sleeping under the stars at Uluru (the giant rock in the middle of the Australian outback/desert), bungy-jumping into the water in New Zealand, watching a 150 kg Green Turtle give birth in Oman. Soon I would like to improve on these experiences by going to the north pole... for that I guess I need a job to earn money first :p
