Overview
About Me
I am Nienke, a 21 years old psychology student at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to travel, meet interesting people, experience new things and learn about different cultures and languages. I also like to show my hometown, Amsterdam, to other travelers. I think Couchsurfing is a brilliant way to share experiences and information about the city, country or culture.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am collecting LP's, mainly from the 70's. I am a great fan of the Doors and I love Kate Bush. But I also listen to music from this time. I listen to bands like the Black keys, Elbow and Alt-J, but I also like to dance on techno related electronic music. Besides, huge bands like the Cat Empire are favorites of me.
I like movies but I am not an expert. If you ask for titles or actors I will probably not know them. I prefer watching documentaries with subjects about psychology, traveling, nature, science or current events.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last year I lived for half a year in Budapest. It was an exchange for my study, but I did a lot more than studying. Everyday I had a plan to do, to see or to try new things. Budapest is a great city full of young internationals, so I met people from all over the world. I tried to learn the language to make contact with my neighbors or to survive in stores. But Budapest is also a good start to make journeys. This is where I discovered that Coushsurfing is more than 'sleeping on someone's couch'. I met people on couchsurfing with who I hitchhiked to Croatia and we spend almost a week together. We went to an island where we slept on hammocks next to our 'private' beach. I hope to make more of these adventurous journeys.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would like to learn about the habits, special dishes and nice places of cities and to practice a few basic words in the local language. I can tell about the Dutch culture and bake Dutch pancakes!
