About Me

Hello!

I've lived in San Diego since 2018 where I'm a preschool teacher. I live a beautiful life here where I can do the things I love and spend time with friends. And on vacation, I get to travel!

I haven't Couchsurfed since 2018. I'm always a little anxious to travel and meet new people, but everyone I've met through Couchsurfing has been an instant friend. It reminds me of how much kindness there is in people if you just put yourself out there.

For hosts: I'm very clean, calm and conscientious. I'm not a party person. I can have a drink, explore all day and love to talk, but am equally happy to take it easy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that this is a lifestyle exchange. I'm not looking for a free place to stay - I'm curious how people live where they live, and of course, to make friends.

Not to mention I know nothing about the place I'm visiting!

Interests

I'm grateful that my lifestyle allows me to pursue my interests everyday:

At school I get to share my love for child development, working with families, social-emotional education and watching my students explore our garden.

I'm a fitness nerd and need the balance of exercise after the demands of work.

I read a lot and started a book club to connect with other book lovers.

On the weekends you can find me riding wheelies around my city (Oceanside), camping in the California deserts, and hanging out with my friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a lot of favorite books and authors... particularly Hermann Hesse, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Haruki Murakami, and many more. Some of my favorite books are Steppenwolf, House of Leaves, and Shantaram. I've reread them all a few times.

I'm a music nerd as well and my tastes are vast. I listen to a lot of R&B, modern jazz, blues, rock across the decades... depends on the mood and where I am.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been able to make a living doing what I love. Teaching connects you to community and to a higher purpose, key ingredients in a fulfilling life.

I've worked at schools in New York, Massachusetts, Saipan, Thailand and California. I've taught English as a second language in Thailand, Colombia, and California. When I step back to reflect, I'm a lucky dude.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to do all three, but I do a lot more of the second.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share good energy and good conversation.
