My basic goal in life is to learn more about the world around me, to have fun and to explore the world a little bit at a time!

I'm out to enjoy myself and explore the world when time and money permits - my particular interest is in all things Scandinavian/Nordic. I've picked up little bits of the languages, which is fun, but that's as far as I ever get due to not having someone to practice with every day!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined CS after it was recommended by a friend. I have no space to host people, unfortunately, but I'd love to meet up with people in/around Manchester for a drink and to show them around. I've lived here all my life, so I know it pretty well.

I've met friends in Denmark, Norway, Finland, Czech Rep, Poland, Latvia, & Lithuania through CS - they were strangers at first but I'm pleased to call some of them my best friends! I've also met a few couch-surfers that have been staying with friends.:)

Interests

Good food (especially Indian & Italian food), good company, conversations about all kinds of things from history, religion (I'm not religious but I enjoy discussing people's views on it), music, and life in general.

I try not to be your typical tourist and quite like to see lesser-known places, but briefly seeing some tourist things is fun if it's somewhere I've not been before. I love learning about new cultures, as I think it is fascinating to see what life is like in other countries and cultures.

I'm not a massive sports fan, but I do like watching Cricket, Tennis, Netball, & have recently started watching American Football!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the most amazing thing I've ever done is to just decide to go visit a friend in Pakistan all on my own. It was quite the experience and really started me off wanting to see more of the world and to visit less-common places.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am pretty good with computers and planning things. I am interested in learning all kinds of stuff - especially languages (I've been trying to learn a few languages on and off for a few years, but it's almost impossible when you don't have someone to practice with every day). I'm not quite sure what I could teach people - how to count & say a few other words in Finnish, maybe! :p How to swear in various languages, of course! :p I can also tell you about all aspects of English life & culture.
