Overview
About Me
Years studying philosophy eventually got me thinking: I was thinking about thinking, and while all this thinking was happening there was living that wasn't lived.
So I got myself a couple freelance jobs (no one cares when you leave) and set about exploring our beautiful planet and its colourful, warm yet sometimes exasperating people!
Having lived in the USA, Switzerland and briefly in Poland during my childhood, and in the UK for the past ten years, I have grown a taste for foreign: that is, being foreign.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
If you don't meet the locals, you don't get a taste for what makes a country: the people!
Interests
- Sitting around a dinner table with good company is probably top of the list...sometimes with a few drinks.
- Nature: rocks, high and low, and the living stuff that's found there.
- Music: listening to people play it and playing it when people aren't listening (I'm kind).
- Sport: anything fast and exciting. Football and snowboarding, plus anything I can hit with a racquet: tennis, squash, badminton, ping pong.
- Facts and fiction: from conversation, film and good books of all kinds.

Hmm, no real favourite per category, but some things I love:

- Catch 22; Anna Karenina
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
As a child, I managed to slide my entire hand into a hot toaster.
