About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make new friends and discover a new sense of home in the world.

ABOUT ME

I was raised in Victoria British Columbia, and then moved to Pasadena CA when I was ten. I also spent a year on the island of Crete, in a little town called Ierapatra (when I was five); my parents were real bohemians when they were young and decided to go to Greece with no money and two kids! It worked out, don't worry - and life in Greece is rich without money, such a fantastic part of the world. My dad is Russian, and my mom is German (well by heritage, though my two German grandparents raised her in America). My German grandparents both had crazy stories - both coming to America to escape something in their life. My grandpa, everyone can probably understand, left Germany after the War to avoid the terrible tone of the country after the war. I really wonder what is what life for him, and how people treated him in America.

PHILOSOPHY

It changes a lot - but I think I really like to think about every moment being very special - and that a person can learn a lot, and enjoy a lot more of life by being aware of the moments of their life. There's meaning and beauty in everything!

Adventure time, the Mighty Boosh, Tokyo Story, The Beatles, Wes Anderson movies, Cat Stevens

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I visited the thermal baths in Vals, Switzerland designed by my favorite architect Peter Zumthor. The freedom to go an explore something that was specifically my own adventure was a very special aspect of my visit. It is the closest thing to a pilgrimage that I've ever done.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn about other people, and what gets them excited. When I hear someone get excited about something, they have likely transmitted that excitement to me as well. Sharing is an amazing thing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Cooking, stories, adventure ideas, happiness, tea!
