Overview
About Me
Free-spirited; health conscious; open; adventurous; energetic; mellow.
I love community events, special occasions, unique and unusual experiences, or just wandering around randomly and seeing what manifests. Planning every little detail or planning absolutely nothing and just going with the flow. I'm flexible. I adapt to the situation and tastes of others at the time. Life is more interesting if it's more than just my own ideas. Meeting other people and hosting/being a guest is opportunity to see the world and others from never-ending perspectives. That is the excitement in life.
Smoke, drugs, drunkenness, negativity, and antipathy - I avoid completely.
What you may consider just basic daily life, can be the deepest learning for someone else. So - let's meet and see where it takes us!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined CS in May 2017 while living in Europe as a way to meet people and learn more about the local cultures in each country.
A family in Poland was my first CS experience and it was beyond amazing in every way! Amazing gluten free - vegan dishes and traditional Polish cooking lessons! Walking tours of the birth place of Pope John Paul II, 24/7 Polish translations, technological assistance, Catholic Holiday Processions, teaching a few high school English classes, and research which lead to meeting my biological family!
I doubt I can ever come close to being such an amazing host - but I will do what I can to "pay it forward" within my means as a hostess.
As a guest, I just welcome the variety of experiences and learning that every CS experience offers.
Interests
- everything new and different!
Music, Movies, and Books
The ones that keep you thinking long after they're over.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In my 20's: skydiving, bungee jumping, mountain climbing, scuba diving, repelling, race car driving, hot air ballooning, etc. - traveling through the US and living in Mexico and England.
In my 30's: I went to India/Bangladesh/Afghanistan to create informal schools, give medical care, and food to street children; investigate and shut-down abusive orphanages; coordinate with NGOs and governments working against human trafficking of children for sexual exploitation.
I also had a monkey family when I lived in the Nilgris (India) jungle; gotten lost and rescued by Bediouns fter midnight in Petra (Jordan); lived in warzones (Afghanistan); done disaster relief work (9-11, San Diego Wildfires, etc.); lived with terrorist groups (Naxals /Taliban); survived living amongst Reuplicans in Washington, D.C., and never worked for anyone other than myself.
Teach, Learn, Share
Let's Share any aspects of healthy lifestyles: exercise, diet/cooking, outdoors/nature activities, cultural events, family or singles' activities. The most valuable part of travel for me has been learning all the hobbies and organizations that I would have never been exposed to otherwise. What I can teach depends on your needs.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Special events, local festivities, your normal daily life and family activities (whatever that includes). We can make plans together for outings, movie nights at home, shared meals- whatever/however you'd like to get to know each other and share the time.
