About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live to love, Love to learn!

ABOUT ME

Hi! I am a curious, passionate, and energetic person. I love bicycles, the outdoors, sunflowers, smiling, good food, good drinks, and the best of conversation. I think the people are always more important than the activity. However, I do LOVE riding my bicycle and doing generally active things. I am most certainly a do-er. I like being busy and am always planning my next adventure! Last summer I rode my bike across the US from Providence, RI to Seattle, WA and next summer I am riding Alaska to Portland, OR!

I grew up in Austin, TX and went to college in Portland, OR. I studied biology, chemistry, economics, environmental studies, and education. But, more that anything, I am interested in learning, thinking, sharing, and doing. I like to learn about other places and other people by engaging with them, sharing with them, and doing things with them. I enjoy spreading my positive energy to the people around me through conversation and homemade goods.

After graduating, I moved to Washington, DC for an AmeriCorps position. I spent a year working at an elementary and learning how to be an independent adult. Following my year of service, I moved back home to Austin to make differences within my own community. For the past year and a half, I have been loving my hometown- creating new communities, connections, and friends that I never could have imagined. I've become very involved in the amazing cycling community and I'm currently getting my teaching certificate as I work full-time.

PHILOSOPHY

Each person has an unlimited potential and the ability to improve their life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Host, teach, learn, enjoy, share, bake, give

I want to host more and I want to surf more. Of course, there are obstacles to both- roommates that aren't accustomed to couchsurfers and having a job. However, I am hoping to do more of both in the coming months!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My experience with couchsurfing has been purely with people that are truly interested in experiencing the culture of a place through the people that encompass it.

When I was living with my (ex) boyfriend a few years ago, we hosted hundreds of beautiful people in our home in Austin, TX. I was constantly amazed by the characters, personalities, generosity, and respect that we encountered.

I very much enjoyed cooking meals, going on bike rides, talking to and spending time with people from all over the world. I have seen the true essence of couchsurfing from those that take it to heart and it is no force to be reckoned with.

Interests

I like to do things and feel good about how I spend my time. Whether that means being productive and getting things done or in other moments relaxing and taking a step back from life. My activities circulate particularly around these: active things, in the outdoors, being creative, rowing, my bike and everything about it, baking up a storm, walking, talking, spooning, swimming, drinking, sudoku(-ing), eating, dancing all night long, cooking for others, camping, music, thinking, feeling, gardening...and everything in between

watch things grow, watch things rise, watch things change

Above all else, I am interested in being around people- doing and sharing the things we love.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy watching just about any movie that can make me laugh, cry, or scream. I almost always find myself listening to music and can't imagine life without it. I enjoy reading, but always wish that I read more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Obama ate my cheesecake!

But actually, he recently ate at the restaurant that I cooked at and they sold the cheesecakes and pies that I baked.

I rode my bicycle 4,000 miles across the country last summer!

Teach, Learn, Share

Everything, anything, and the in between.
