About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Carpe diem, hasta la vista, hakuna matata!

ABOUT ME
Hi everybody!

My name is Nikkie, Couchsurfing name Nikkiekeboe. Combination of my name Nikkie and kiekeboe, a word that we in the Netherlands say if you suprisingly show yourself out of the blue.

I am 28 years old and live in Nijmegen. I live together with my boyfriend Peter, also member of CS. Check his profile also (harigerman) if you are thinking about meeting me :)

About Nijmegen itselfs: Nijmegen is a pretty nice city! Lots of social things going on here, lots of nature, lots of culture. Public transport (bus, train) is pretty good. Also walking, skating, running and cycling is nice and fine here. Lots of ways to move from one spot to the other in this beautiful area. Shops, highways, nature: it's all near to here!

The Netherlands has MUCH more to offer then drugs, bikes, mills and red light districts! If you want to experience the real Dutch life, don't go only to Amsterdam. It's a nice city to see, but if you want to get a whole picture of the Netherlands, visit also a lot of other places. I would for example recommend the cities Delft, Den Bosch, Amersfoort, Leiden, Utrecht, Maastricht, which are cosy :)

The Dutch sea side is something you can visit. Besides that, it's nice to see the most north provinces, Groningen and Friesland, to see the green province Drenthe, to see the province with a lot of water called Zeeland and the somewhat hilly south Limburg. However; lots to see and do in this little country.

My boyfriend Peter and me are both really 'old-skool'- cs'ers with true cs-spirit:
'We envision a World where everyone can explore and meaningful connections with the people and places they encounter. Building meaningful connections across cultures enables us to respond diversity with curiosity, appreciation, and respect. The appreciation of diversity spreads tolerance and creates a global community. CS'

Broaden my horizons, try different and new kinds of things, is something I really like for sure!

Mhh, this part actually has to go about myself. Mhh, what more can I tell about myself? I am a little girl, who wears glasses, has red hair and talks and laughs a lot. I really like to play, watch and make theater, do volunteerwork for Amnesy International, festivals, being creative, play boardgames, make all sorts of different trips (day- and citytrips, festivals) and travels (traveling to places all over the world .. :)) and like to meet (new) people.

Peter and I don't eat lots of meat, and if we eat (only little portions), we mostly eat 'light' meat like chicken and turkey ..

Some other strange information about me; I talk in my sleep sometimes (for example I tell you about the price of cumcumbers and about the soup which tasted good, and I can do also weird with my hands and laugh sometimes while I am sleeping. Never a dull moment with me!

However: always be yourself. Others are there already enough.

By the way: If I cannot host you myself, I have a bucket of friends who are also on CS, and I shall try to find you another host :)

If you send me a couchrequest, please include some of the information which you just read, so that I know that you read the information on my profile.

FEEL WELCOME!

PHILOSOPHY
Some great lines about life and people, I really enjoy;
- Life is like a box of chocolate; you never know what you gonna get. So be open and explore!
- Don't dream your life. Live your dream!
- Life is what happends to you when you are busy making other plans
- Minds are like parachutes; they only function when OPEN

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I heard about cs from a friend I met during my time in India. I think CS is a great way to meet new people, discover new countries, new cultures and so on ..!

Getting a place to stay for free is just a nice bonus. I am not a free ho(s)tel or a one-night-stand, I am a member with real couchsurfing-spiriti. Please keep that in mind! Offering a place for nice people in return is a price I gladly pay.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
People are welcome at our place, also people who are not from cs, but for example from Be Welcome, the Hospitalityclub or just random people who are just into meeting new people and have new experiences. With CS, I had lots of awesome experiences, with awesome people, both during hosting as surfing. Would love to have more of these nice experiences soon!

Interests

My interests are of course, beside the things I already mentoined, meeting new people, countries and cultures :) It's nice to go abroad, but it is also really nice to meet people at my place. By having other people at your own place, you also learn a lot about the things who are or feel mostly normal to you. I remembered some guest, who where AMAZED by all the bikes and the special two-level bike parking areas here. People who were amazed by all the festivals and cultural stuff going on in the Netherlands. People who were amazed by just a tiny country, with just so many cultures and differents. And so on and on and on ..

I am really interesting in learning and developing new things. Discovering the world in all the aspects it has is great!

Music, Movies, and Books

Actually, I am NOT that much into books or movies. I am not really good in sitting still.. Just to give you some examples from books/reading stuff and movies/watching stuff I like:

Books: Personal and real stories. Really like short (columns) stories about someone ('s thinking)
Movies: Big fish, little Miss Sunshine, Amelie, fall-winter,spring-summer and fall.
Mostly, I really like watching art-house movies :)

I really like music, but I don't have real favorites. I have a wide range in which music I listen to. It really depence on my mood which music I like at that moment. Music I appreciate often is rock, pop, world music, indi, jazz, blues and so on and on ..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Pff, too much to mention again! Did great things, met super nice people, but alsof just daily, little things can be amazing. You just have to look around, and use your fantasy and creativity ..

Teach, Learn, Share

To all people, I would like to say: teach, learn and share your experiences, wisdom, happiness, thankfullness and all the good things of life!
