About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To expand my horizons by meeting people, travelling to new places, immersing myself in their culture.

ABOUT ME

I enjoy the thrill of meeting new people and the exploration of foreign places. It's a very rewarding experience as you learn so much more about yourself when you're outside of your comfort zone.

Oh and I enjoy meaningful conversations over coffee or beer.

PHILOSOPHY

Think this will always change as we progress in life, but for now I'm all for living life to experience life. I don't mean by saying that we should do anything and everything but rather to make choices that will allow us a better, more fulfilling life experience that we'll look back and be glad we did it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been a member of Couchsurfing for a few years but I've not Couchsurfed nor hosted anyone. I have however, met up with follow Couchsurfers during my travels. And it was great! I love meeting new people and hearing new perspectives and ideas. Definitely something I'd keep doing during my travels.

Interests

Books are definitely at the top of my list, I'm very lucky to come from a family who encourages reading and learning. My love for the written word has also led me to become an aspiring writer. I write poetry and little thought pieces.

Besides that, I enjoy good music. I understand that "good" music can be very subjective so my definition of that would be something along the lines of Coldplay, Oasis, The Strokes, The XX, Arctic Monkeys, The 1975. But I also enjoy some EDM as well as electronica.

Music, Movies, and Books

MOVIES
I'm an open-minded movie watcher, I'll watch any genre as long as it has a solid story. Some movies I love are: The Grand Budapest Hotel, Brooklyn, Shaun of The Dead, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, Lord of the Rings and Chris Nolan's Batman series.

MUSIC
By default, my go-to genre is alternative/indie rock. But I do listen to wide range of music. Some of my favourite artists/bands are The XX, Coldplay, The Strokes, Tame Impala, Arctic Monkeys, 30 Seconds to Mars, Oasis, Three Days Grace, Bee Gees, The Beatles, Dash Berlin, M83.

BOOKS
I don't restrict myself to genres but some of my favourite books are by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, Haruki Murakami, George Orwell, JK Rowling and Milan Kundera.

I have a tattoo of a quote from Kundera's "Unbearable Lightness of Being." The quote is one of my life's philosophies, it says "The greater the ambiguity, the greater the pleasure."

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Probably not magnificent in scale, but some of the memorable things I have enjoyed doing were mostly charitable in nature like giving out smiley balloons to strangers on the street, volunteer work. It's really such an empowering experience.

And also, on a more lighthearted note, I have a soft spot for pandas.

Teach, Learn, Share

The sharing of the culture I come from, I have not travelled far and wide myself but I have gotten the privilege of meeting various kinds of people and I think by doing that alone gives you a relatively broad perspective in life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you don't mind, I can cook some meals for us! I enjoy cooking and baking. Some of my favourite things to make are chocolate tart, quiche lorraine, pasta bolognese, pizzas and potato and leek soup.

But on top of that I can share with you my ideas, stories and my rather quirky sense of humour. :)
