About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be and help people be

ABOUT ME

I'm fun-loving, open-hearted, down to earth, caring, giving, compassionate, thoughtful, welcoming, generous, sassy and a bit spicy.

I'm originally from the East Coast of the U.S. which means I come from an aggressive, direct, and always on the go culture. But since I've been out in the North West for a few years I've balanced that with a very liberal, earth friendly and laid back attitude. I've seen it described as this "An observation that has stood the test of time would be that when you are with West coast people they are initially warm and friendly to a point but never allow you into their private lives. The East coast people tend to be standoffish and distant until they accept you and then and you become part of the family." I like to think I take the best of both worlds, I'm warm and friendly and if I like & trust you, you'll be like family.

PHILOSOPHY

"Change yourself to change the world."

"Breathing in I calm my body,
Breathing out I smile,
Dwelling in the present moment,
I know this is a wonderful moment."

"If we don't change, we don't grow. If we don't grow, we are not really living. Growth demands a temporary surrender of security."

Be kind, loving and compassionate. Spread goodness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Brand spanking new to the community, but looking forward to surfing when I can, hosting when I can, going to meetups and other events.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet, but looking forward to trying it out!

Interests

I LOVE to dance! (Like in the club, not like ballet/tap although I've done those.)
I LOVE cooking and feeding people.
I LOVE eating out and discovering new food. One of my favorite things to do in Portland is exploring all the hundreds of food carts (I want to try them ALL!) and eating out at all the fabulous restaurants this culinary city has to offer. And then blogging about it.
I LOVE yoga. I've been getting more and more into it lately, although I'd describe myself as an intermediate beginner.
I LOVE community and spending time with people socializing, eating, going to festivals, celebrations, & other events.
I LOVE going on long walks through the city and exploring new places one could never find in a car (don't even own a car!). Portland is gorgeous and I get to see mountains almost everyday (including Mt. St. Helens out of my window, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Hood) and I live next to one of the largest urban forest parks in the world.
I enjoy meditation. I'm at the beginning of my practice but I love it!
I like to give back to my community through service.
I'm a lifelong learner of all.
Last but never least, I ADORE and CHERISH my beautiful life partner who is my high school sweetheart. I'm SO LUCKY to have spent the last 15 years of my life with someone so special as him.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love lots of movies. I love ALL genres. I'm a sucker for romantic comedies, raunchy or dark comedies, family movies. Love musicals and shows like Glee. Also, love TV like HGTV and FOODTV.

Love all types of music. Especially ones I can shake my booty to.

Love reading and all types of books, fiction and nonfiction. Got a soft spot for children/teen books, particularly fantasy (witches & magic) like Harry Potter, Wildwood, Septimus Heap (don't judge me). I love self-change books by authors like Victoria Castle, Parker Palmer, Helene Lerner, Cheri Huber and many many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've done a lot and I'm looking forward to more...

Everyday with an awe-inspiring, soul-touching, heart-thumping, blood-racing deep love.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to dance Salsa, I can teach you some Puerto Rican recipes, I can teach other basic cooking skills as well. I can teach some basic dance club skills. Would love to learn from you too!
