About Me

I am an artistic type, curious to explore the world and meet her beautiful inhabitants.

I love all things film, theatre, art, literature... I am always looking out for a good story.

I love good food and wine, and have really appreciated the flavours my travels have granted me. I love to cook. I am now a vegetarian, and have chosen this lifestyle in order to respect and love this Earth and all that reside in it. I love my body, and once heard that the greatest gift the Universe ever grated us was the breath- I hope to never take a single one for granted.

I love to adventure and share great conversations with strangers. Often these exchanges have granted me little gems of wisdom, or even a spontaneous adventure or five.

I love to laugh. And, I love to love.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One of my best friends became a Couchsurfer last year, both hosting and being hosted, and, well, it looked like an incredible experience. She had a magical time (re)discovering the city with her guests (a gentle gentleman from Paris and an uninhabited lovely lady from The States). She has since been hosted and is using Couchsurfing as a means to travel and explore Europe.

The platform of couchsurfing is such a marvellous way to meet other travellers and people open to exchange experiences. I really appreciate the way one is able to experience a place from a local perspective and often see the side of a place that hostelling and touring won't grant you.

Interests

I love the arts and culture: watching and talking about film, theatre, art, or philosophy. I enjoy attending pop-up events and exhibitions, and meeting the interesting people that frequent such places...

Apart from good conversation, I love cooking and doing exercise- yoga, jogging, or hiking is the best. On my travels I have really enjoyed getting 'lost', having to take the long way back to my hostel- this is often where the Best discoveries of places and people are made.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love watching films.

I love music that is a bit rough around the edges: from the soulful serenades of folk songsters to the wild amalgamations of jazz ensembles.

Oh, and I love watching films.

I am a fan of the Classics and have a flavour for fiction. I am also an avid reader of poetry and plays.

Seriously though, film. All kinds. Any day. Any time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hiked a volcano to the tallest peak in Central America.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am so curious about the world and the lives of others, and I can't get enough of how others experience it. Often when I am sharing my own point of view, I am surprised and see my life with fresh eyes.

I am open to new experiences: always keen for a spontaneous adventure or taking the scenic route.

I love my city. I really believe that Johannesburg is going through a bit of a renaissance, and something South Africa has never experienced before. The way that the young people are getting together to work, and party, and live! is truly remarkable. If I could share this slice of life with someone, even over a cup of coffee, it would bring me happiness. A young South Africa not seen on TV.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Enthusiasm to adventure and an openness to learn. I can share some good conversation, some good laughs, and perhaps a good meal or two.
