About Me
Hello!
My name is Niklas. I am originally from Canada and have spent a lot of time living in Sweden as well as in Melbourne.
The first half of my adult life I spent learning all I could about science and what we have come to know about the world and life through observation. Now I am focused on art and discovering for myself what we can learn about the world and life through our own experience.
I really enjoy music and dance, and I started DJing this year. The types of music I play are downtempo, deep house, and bluesy psychedelic rock
I love to cook and consider food as medicine. I always cook vegan, but will happily eat vegetarian when food is offered. I have been learning about the healing properties of all types of food from indian traditions and incorporating that knowledge into my life and sharing it with others.
I love reading, especially things that push the boundaries of human experience and what we generally consider to be part of our accepted reality. I really enjoy learning about the accumulated knowledge of indigenous cultures from around the world.
I am also very into yoga/meditation, and am building them into my daily routine.
I am a very friendly and easy going person. I love connecting with people from all over the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am about to move to New Zealand to start a new chapter of my life. To start I will be travelling around the country on my own before setting up somewhere to begin working and saving. I joined couchsurfing because I think it is a great way to meet friendly and open people in my new home.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: I really enjoy all films, as long as they have some effort and love put into the production. My favourites are films that explore existential questions, whether that be a documentary, sci-fi, fantasy, or drama.
Books: Currently reading "Man's Search for Meaning", "Ghostwritten", "The Cosmic Serpent", and "Don Juan, Mescalito, and Modern Magic"
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Attending Burning Seed 2019 as part of a theme camp. It was such an amazing experience to contribute something to this festival/gathering and see it all come to life during the week. I made friends and realizations that will last a lifetime. It really changed my perspective on the world and our purpose in life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love teaching everything I have learnt about the world. I have a large bank of scientific/general knowledge about everyday things around us and how they work and the basic mechanics of life and the universe.
I have recently taken a big interest in holistic health, focused mostly on the food we eat. I have a big love for cooking and love showing people how to use food to support their own health. I had IBS and daily pain for almost 2 years, which was cured after 3 months of diet/lifestyle focused holistic health. This is why food has become such a passion for me.
I am always looking to learn more about music. I have met so many people in the last year who have really expanded my knowledge and appreciation of music by sharing their favourites with me. I would like to continue working on making my own music as well. I use Ableton Live and have been Djing for 1 year.
I love plants and would love to learn more about gardening.
Teach me about your experience of life. I find everyones personal journey/lessons so interesting.
