I was born in Ithaca, New York, and moved to Hyattsville, Maryland, when I was only six months old. Hyattsville is in Prince George's County and is right near Washington, DC, and the University of Maryland. I lived in Hyattsville for almost all of my life so far.

I completed a double degree in Japanese and Mathematics with minors in Asian American Studies and Spanish at the University of Maryland College Park. As an undergraduate student, I spent one year participating in an exchange program at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan.

メリーランド大学のカレージパークキャンパスで日本語と数学のダブルメジャーをしました。副専攻はスペイン語とアジア系アメリカ人学でした。大学生の時に、一年間早稲田大学の日本語教育研究センターで交換留学しました。

Immediately after graduating from the University of Maryland, I went to Japan to participate in the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program. I have been an assistant English teacher at Kokura High School in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, since the beginning of August 2017.

メリーランド大学を卒業した直後、JETプログラムに参加しに日本に来ました。2017年8月の始まりから福岡県北九州市の小倉高校で英語教師を務めています。

I enjoy meeting people from around the world and learning languages. I have been studying Spanish since I was five years old and Japanese since I was seven years old.

世界の様々なところからの方に出会うことと言語を習うことが好きです。スペイン語は5歳の時から勉強していて、日本語は7歳の時から勉強しています。

My father is an entomologist specializing in fungus-growing ants. I have accompanied him to Brazil and Peru to collect ants. I completed a one-year internship in his lab attempting to clarify species distinctions in a certain group of fungus-growing ants.

父はきのこをつくるアリを専門している昆虫学者なのです。一緒にブラジルとペルーにアリを集めに行ったこともあります。父の研究所でアリの一種の区別について研究したというインターンも一年間しました。
