About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finding my place in space.

ABOUT ME

I'm Nick Ducker, a 31 year old Australian weighing in at about 70kg, with 180cm-ish worth of altitude.

A great deal of my life has been spent living abroad and floating about, doing all sorts of odd jobs, chasing changing passions around the world.

A young ski bum turned rock climber, I've spent a great deal of energy gearing my life towards what it is I'm interested in, fitting work and lifestyle around all that.

An eventual Outdoor educator turned software developer, I traded in my "insane job" for something a little more remote and flexible.

Australian resident turned Sardinian. I've found myself here in Sardinia, and think I'm here to stay!

“Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn. Climb that goddamn mountain.”

PHILOSOPHY

I feel that as a general first world population, we've lost touch with not only the world, but with each other and ourselves. We don't experience company like we should anymore. We don't talk about thing's that matter at all. I'm certainly not immune to all this but I'm trying to rid myself of all these modern day preconceptions I've grown up to accept as common knowledge.

That's why I travel and why I love being on the road so much. These preconceptions take a back seat and I get the chance to simply live my life the way I want without all the white noise.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment due to my impermanent nature I am unable to host and am only a mere surfer, but hosting is definitely on my "to do" list. I hope I bring something to the lives of the people I surf with as much as they bring something to mine.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

From roadtripping from LA to SF, couchsurfing in Japan, organizing rideshares back home to finding a place to live in Boulder, so many good vibes so far, and hopefully I can finally return some of them in the future.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Working in the Carnival. While it sounds like a dirty gypsy-esque lifestyle (and at times was), I'll never forget doing it. I met amazing people, was pushed well beyond my limits at the time and learnt not only alot about myself, but tons of practical stuff and had some of the best laughs of my life. Also Burning Man
