My name is Nikola Joksimovic, but friends call me Joxa. I am living in small but beautiful city of Novi Sad where I grew up as middle child, so I have a younger brother and an older sister. Also my family is pretty big so I have a lot of cousins, probably as every family with roots in Montenegro! :D

Accustomed to being around a lot of people, I have come to a stage that I can't bear loneliness. Huge amount of friends from the early days also contributed to that feeling . I had a lot of people who invested in me, and I excelled at most of my many and varied hobbies. I did well in elementary school, often with excellent grades. Was one of few that competed in sport and science section, mostly as a basketball player and as science part, It was biology.

In high school, I began to expand my goals and expectations. I gradually refined my extra-curricular activities, including music lessons, languages and ofcourse sports. I graduated at the top of my class, although I wasn’t valedictorian—perhaps because I like to be average and surprise when noone is expecting it.
Then the time of decision came and I chose to pursuit my dream. The dream of becoming a doctor one day.

In Medical faculty that I am still atending as a regular student with pretty good GPA, beside my regular activites, I continued playing basketball on a semi-professional level and also as a member of a sport section, where I also swim and play handball. Apart from those, I am a member of scientific section in my faculty where I have some new ideas I would like to implement when I finish my studies.

Apart from my studies, I really enjoy playing basketball (practically my first love), I am always on a move and one of the things I really do like is travelling. As a national of a small country of Serbia that remembers some better days when she was a part of Yugoslavia, I think I've travelled more than a lot of people around me.

With travel I got to know one thing and that is that when you do spend some time with people from another culture and with different attitudes you really DO broaden your horizons, you really do FIGURE OUT what you like and what would you like to do and HOW would you want your LIFE to be spent. So you come upon a question: "Do I want to live a life or just go through it?"

The pursuit of happiness is on my opinion the pursuit of your own dreams and determination to make them come true! When you do this, you just put yourself a new one. As mankind is like that, always in pursuit of something else and something more. Thats how we got to this point, from a wheel and fire, to space shuttles and enourmous cities with dozens of different cultures.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

I am really amazed about the point of couchsurfing and feel ashamed I didn't join this community years ago. The fact that you can actually meet so much people, exchange thoughts, ideas, points of views and culture and history of other countries without sometimes even going away from you own flat. For me thats mindblowing. As a Couchsurfer I would like to meet all sorts of people and get to know them, travel with others, share the positive attitude to others and hopefully make them happier. Similair to the profession I am studying for. :)

Música, películas y libros

As of the music part, I really do like everything from balads, sertanejo and classical to rock,house, electronic. Practically everything, just not so into punk, heavy metal. My favorite band from Serbia, actually former Yugoslavia is a band that was really popular in '80, as most of the rock bands actually. Bijelo Dugme is the name of it.

Movies I really do like are all sort of epic fantasy, adventure and comedy. Also you cant miss a good thriller. :) Actually I really like movies that can take me out of my world to another dimension/world where I can enjoy how does it unfold. Favorite ones would be: LOTR and Hobbit, Eragon, Harry Potter, Inception, Avatar. Memento. I cant even remember all of them but Im sure there is more :D

As for books, I dont read that much due to the fact I got way too many to read as a medical student anyway! :) Although I love the book called-Eragon The Trilogy from Cristopher Paolini.

Algo increíble que he hecho

There is plenty things I did I would consider amazing, but maybe the most amazing for me is amputating finger because of diabetes foot last year. Don't get me wrong, It was amazing for me, because for the first time in my life, I actually helped to save someones life!

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I can teach some basketball and swimming lessons, Serbian language and basic latin dance steps. :D

I would like to learn spanish, chinese and norwegian language, also would like to learn to surf and snowboarding.
