About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The two main reasons are that I like meeting new people (see Interests) as well as that my budget doesn't allow an accommodation in a hotel every time I visit an unknown place and a hostel bed among 15, 20 or so other persons isn't really my cup of tea :)

Interests

Literature, traveling (bus & train), language learning & using, eating…and of course meeting new people :)

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite authors apart from the Czech ones are James Herriot and George Orwell (and Joanne K. Rowling, and that not only because of Harry Potter), and from the Germans especially Karl Olsberg - I've discovered him on Google Play Books and his thrillers are … ummm, thrilling just right to thrill me but still ensure a peaceful night after the lecture >)
Movies: um, it's very long ago since I was to a cinema, I prefer online streaming services or VoD there - I have still a TV device but I'm using it almost not at all anymore). My favourite movie genre is the same as in lecture - thrillers and crimis. 1984, Pelham 123, Sahara, The Mummy (Returns as well)… but of course I can still enjoy a film like The Gods Must Be Crazy :) )
Music: mainly the New German Wave (Neue Deutsche Welle), especially Nena und 99 Luftballons…

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Um…one amazing thing I've seen…there isn't only one, there are quite a few - renovated centres of German towns & cities destroyed in the WWII (but only those whose genius loci wasn't assassinated by concrete blocks).
And for one amazing thing I've done…I'd say that my decision to study for my Master degree abroad was THE amazing thing I've done. :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Language learning problems? If the language affected isn't way too exotic (apart from Czech of course, my mother tongue), I can help you out, German is the best option for me but English or Russian shouldn't be any problem as well…
Another topics which I can hours talk about are history and transport - but there's a serious danger of bringing my counterparts to sleep if not interrupted in time :)
