Interests

I've always had a strong interest in the natural sciences; I enjoy literature very much and art moves me. Unaltered natural landscapes are my favorite sight, I need to see the milky way blazing over my head every once in a while or else a gloomy existential anxiety preys on me. Philosophy – especially phi. of mind- and the social sciences are of interest to me as well; and I am a convicted melomaniac.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen mainly to jazz, blues, rock&roll, reggae, ska, classical music. Some of my favorite musicians/bands are Tom Waits, Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Andrew Bird, Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Clogs, to name just a few.
From Dostoyevsky, Conrad or Kipling to Borges, Cortázar; Asimov, Sagan, Poe, Darwin, Joyce —there are so many authors I love I think I shouldn't keep going here.
Among the film directors I like (I shan't mention cinematographers here) these are just a few: Kar-Wai, Kubrick, Malick, Tarkovsky, Eisenstein, Miyazaki...
