About Me

I love to travel ever since I can remember. I am fascinated in making new experiences and seeing a variety of different landscapes, people and cultures.
Being an English teacher and having lived in a small village in Wisconsin for some month as part of my studies I am fluent in English but can try to dig up the bits and pieces I remember from four years of French and three years of Spanish in school.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I don't "only" want to travel but also to meet people who can give a me a more authentic insight into the area I'm visiting.

Music, Movies, and Books

I cannot really decide which kind of music is my favorite - mostly it is a lot of fast stuff. This can include almost anything from rock over jazz, hiphop, reggae to electro. Besides the beat I like creative, funny or intelligent lyrics.
The same goes for books and films - as long as the story is told in an interesting way I like a lot of different genres and titles.
Nevertheless, "Love Actually" is clearly one of my all-time favorites which I share with my wife.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2014 I organized a workshop as part of the so-called History Campus "Europe 14/14" commemorating the 100 years since World War I started. It was an amazing experience to work with a group of young people from Serbia, Italy, Ukraine, Romania and Germany and discuss their ideas about remembering history.
A similar event was held in 2018 for 100 years since the end of World War I with an even greater variety of countries and an equally awesome few days.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Whenever I meet new people all over the globe I like to stay in touch with them every once in a while. I think it is great to know people all around a world in order to be able to talk to them about current events and their perspective of the the world because it certainly widens your horizon.
