Overview
About Me
Hi, my name is Nils, I live in Darmstadt, Germany and I am currently doing a master in aerospace engineering. At the same time, I work in a project that aims to build a solar electric, flying wing airplane to enable C02 neutral travel in the future.
In my spare time, I enjoy making music. I play several instruments, including bass guitar and drums and I have some limited piano/keyboard skills. Also, I have sailplane and paraglider licenses and fly gliders in the local club in Darmstadt.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I would like to get to know people from different countries to expand my knowledge of the world. Also, I would like to be flexible when staying in different cities and countries and use the opportunity to get to know local people that I would not get to know otherwise.
I prefer to spend my money right and do some activities with others rather than having an expensive hotel room and be alone.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favourite music at the time is from Steely Dan, a jazz rock band that formed in the 70s/80s and made some amazing, records with a lot of attention to detail. Also, I enjoy all kinds of funky, positive vibe music including synthesizers, electric guitar and electric piano sounds. Some more bands that I enjoy include Vulfpeck, Kamaal Williams, Men I Trust, Khruangbin, Roosevelt, Tame Impala, and many more. I like going to concerts and experiencing new music live.
Movies I enjoy often involve some sort of organized crime scenario, though I can not really explain why. I enjoyed netflix series Narcos for example, as well as the movies Wolf of Wallstreet, Inception, Pulp Fiction and many more.
Unfortunately, I dont get to read that much at the time, but I used to read a lot when I was a kid. Today, I am mostly interested in technical books as well as political, socially critical literature that provides ideas for the future.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One particularly great experience I recall was climbing one of the Tatra mountains with some good friends. Others include flying paragliders in the alps or just swimming and playing in the atlantic ocean waves.
Teach, Learn, Share
I really enjoy learning new stuff. For example, I enjoy to play together with different musicians, as there is always something new to be learned. The nicest aspect is the nonverbal communication between the different musicians and their instruments through the music each individual is playing. I would like to learn more about the piano, as well as learn how to sail at some point. Also, I would like to go diving when I get the opportunity.
I think everyone has unique experiences and can therefore teach others. I really enjoy talking and teaching about aviation, so with more experience as I get older, I would very much enjoy to get a flight instructor rating and teach how to fly. Also, I would enjoy to teach aerospace stuff to students.
Sharing experiances is probably one of the nicest things in life, as it makes the experience much more enjoyable.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I like to cook and share a great meal, some wine and some good talk. When the weather and season permit, I can offer to give a ride in a glider at our local glider club. Also, I can show you some nice places in the city or take you to some activity with my friends.
