CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to make travel easier, cheaper and friendlier for people in the hopes that the favour will be returned. I think CouchSurfing can be a good way to meet people and so I guess that is my mission.

ABOUT ME

After filling out so many social network profiles you would think I would have an idea of what information to start with, but alas, nothing obvious comes to mind. I am 27 and I just moved from Ottawa (where I lived most of my life) to Vancouver for a new job. Most of my family still lives in Ottawa and I know it really well, whereas I don't know Vancouver at all. I guess my religious beliefs set me apart from many people. I work for the Anglican Church, but I identify myself as a Bahanglijuke - Baha'i, Anglican, Jewish, Ukrainian Catholic. I recently began a new job as a family and youth worker at a Church which is amazing so far. There is a lot to learn (including many, many people's names).I am also a musician - I sing and play percussion, piano and organ. I have a really broad taste in music from choral music to folk music to classic rock to new wave to cheesy pop. My favourite band is Queen and my favourite composer is Bach (more because of his life story than his music though).I love a good conversation about anything from politics to sports to science. There are some parts of popular culture that I am up on, but nothing to do with fashion or entertainment gossip or the like. I watch a lot of TV and I enjoy movies. I am not a reader - despite having gone to university for eight years in theology and human sciences.Well, that is a start.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have just become involved in couchsurfing, but I sometimes feel like our apartment is a nice little bed and breakfast. We host friends and family here often and I would love to make our futon available for even more people.Not to mention, I spend a ton of time travelling for work on a shoestring budget and hope to be able to do this even more efficiently by couch surfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't had any experience with CS through this site yet, but I always plan my travel around where I have friends with extra space in their homes and I am happy to host people on my futon in Ottawa.

Interesses

I love music - this takes up most of my free time, and a lot of the time that isn't free. I often say that I should get a shirt made that says "I would rather be singing." because it is usually true.I am always up for a good conversation about even the most contentious topics, but I am also up for talking about TV and movies. I love hearing stories about other people's experiences as well. I have friends from across the political spectrum, but I am about as progressive and left-wing as they come in many ways. I can be interested in pretty much anything if the person talking about it is passionate about it.

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

My favourite band is Queen...beyond that I won't attempt to list my taste in music because it is so ridiculously broad. I watch more TV than Movies and I like a good mystery or action movie. I am not a fan of romantic comedy or slapstick comedy like Old School - but my roommate is so I have seen a ton of it.I do not like books - I overdosed on them in University and I wasn't ever a big fan in the first place.

I am a musician and I do workshops with people who think they can't sing - which mostly isn't true. I love helping people learn to make music.I love learning languages - I am starting to learn Ukrainian because I am nannying for a Ukrainian family. I would love to learn even more languages.
