Обо мне

Hey! I am a 20 year old Filipina who is currently an erasmus student studying International Relations in the University of Warsaw, Poland. I will be going back to the Philippines in March so I would really like to visit as many European countries as possible. More importantly, I want to make new friends that will hopefully open my mind to the diverse cultures this world has to offer. And rest assured, if anyone wants to visit the Philippines, I will be there for you :)

Что привело меня на Couchsurfing

I want to meet real people.

Музыка, кино и книги

My favorite love story of all time is a british movie called About Time (2013). It's hilarious and has a nice plot. Also, this movie has one of the best soundtracks in all the chick flick movies I've endured to watch. Every time I hear their theme song 'How long will I love you', I feel very warm and happy inside. There is just something about this movie that makes me believe in true love--despite the horrors of the world.

Another love story that I really like is entitled Ruby Sparks (2012). This is an American movie and it literally proves just how strong the power of writing can be--it can bend time and all forces of nature. A very beautiful movie about love indeed.

Hachiko: A Dog's Tail (2009) is also one of the movies that I will never forget. This is a true to life story about the loyalty of a dog to its master. I remember every one in my family was crying at the end of the movie--even my hard ass male cousins were not embarrassed by their vulnerability as shown in their tears and hiccups. This movie makes me want to hug and pat all the dogs in the world. Maybe that can be my life goal.

But I think the best movie I have ever seen is a french movie called "Blue is the Warmest Color" (2013). It is a very beautiful story about love, passion and loyalty. I don't think I've ever stared at a blank screen as long as I did when the show ended. It was that astounding and painful.

Like every other teenager out there, I love comedy movies too but the stand outs are 21 and 22 Jump Street (2012 & 2014). These two movies were worth the money I spent on going to the cinemas. But I think my enjoyment was fueled by the fact that the company I had both times were composed of my best friends in college.

Regarding music, I am a Filipino which means we love to sing along to Karaoke. I grew up with 6 uncles and 5 aunts since my mom was a single mother. I was raised in a huge compound composed of 5 houses and 8 families. My music taste is very diverse--my cousins claim I do not have a taste at all since I pretty much enjoy everything. From the soft ballads of The Carpenters to my mom's favorite band, Abba, to my uncle's Air Supply and the love songs of England Dan and John Ford Coley to my older cousins' rock songs by Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance to my other cousin's sweet renditions of The Corrs to local 1990s music by the Eraserheads which always remind me of the time me and my cousins would just lie down on our rooftops with a guitar and watching the stars and waiting for some shooting stars that might get us out of our small town city and into the rest of the world.

I've only really liked one book and that is JD Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye. I don't really know why I liked it; maybe it's because of the swear words but maybe because it is just too real. I read the Little Prince in high school and it was great too. I want to read more, especially the Iliad and the Odyssey. Greek and Roman Mythology amuses me. I can never be farther from the Asian culture I grew up in than in studying and learning about European history and their origins.
