ABOUT ME
Mostly I like brushing my teeth with anise-flavored toothpaste. But also as long as I am cooking something I'm happy - I love saunas, warm places in general. My hands get cold easily.. wool socks drive me nuts, in a good way.
I work as a medical social worker for a hospice organization. In my free time I like to meditate, cook, and learn about a range of healing modalities and counseling techniques. I am currently becoming a certified Reiki Master.
PHILOSOPHY
I do not believe in coincidences.
There is no right way; there are simply ways.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I drove across the country in 2012 (from West to East) and used couch surfing as my main source of refuge. I met some marvelous people along the way and the kindness of the universe was supremely manifest and that was great.
Again I drove across the county in 2015 (from East to West) and was embraced with the kindness of couch surfing hosts to provide beautiful stepping stones of refuge.
Unfortunately I have never lived in locations where I could be able to host - either at Buddhist retreat centers (3.5 years) or renting a single room in a house where I am currently at. Someday when I am in a position to, I'd love to return the favor.
Interests
I love social work as my profession and very much enjoy working in hospice - yes it's challenging but I live with a desire to face what is true, and death is something that is true for all of us.
I do have a "woo-woo" side........ astrology, Reiki, tarot, all of those modalities I enjoy as self-reflective techniques and tools for greater awareness.
I also enjoy meditation/Buddhism, good coffee, manual cars, having meaningful conversations in groups, yoga, beer, non-fiction books, documentaries

Music, Movies, and Books
Currently reading: The Five Invitations by Frank Ostaseski
Movies: I love documentaries about how devastating our current food system is. I'm not a huge movie watcher unless it involves friends&popcorn and my memory is horrible so I generally don't remember what I've seen after a month or so. Last movie I watched was "The Big Sick" (LOVED IT)
Music: Minor obsession with Bon Iver.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spent 6 months living in the dusty domain of Delhi, India. Saw the biggest juxtaposition of poverty next to wealth. "It's all relative" took on an entirely new meaning.
Spent 3.5 years working as a Kitchen Manager at Buddhist retreat centers in Vermont and in the Santa Cruz Mountains in California. If I didn't have student loans to pay off, I might still be there.
