About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Finish my studies while having as much free time as I can. It ain't easy!

ABOUT ME

I grew up and spent most of my life in the wonderful city of Berlin where I studied geography and history of arts - and no, not to become a teacher. I have lived in Southern China for a year after finishing high school where I did voluntary service, so that's why I speak a few rudimentary sentences in Chinese. During University I also lived in Spain for one year and became pretty fluent in Spanish. Last Year I spent roughly 9 months in Southern and Central America, doing the backpacker thing. After that I moved to the beautiful city of Leipzig for my Masters degree.
I am an enthusiast for everything related to arts; I love photography, almost everything of modern arts, and I can completely get lost in an interesting building. But I am very untalented in producing arts, so I decided to study geography and I really enjoy doing it. The fields I focus on are social, urban, cultural and political geography and I admire learning new things about these topics - at best from personal experiences and those of other people. As I am from Berlin I'm quite into going out and I always enjoy good techno or house music. For some time dancing was pretty much all the sport I did, by now I exchanged that for yoga.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

That's quite simple: I enjoy this mode of travelling. You don't only see a city, but you also get to know people, everyday life, neighborhoods off the beaten track, see hidden spots and if you're lucky enough you can even make friends. You will get to know a place a lot better if you also get to know the people, and couchsurfing is an incredible opportunity for that. It is not a place to just find free places to stay and it is also not a dating website, some people seem to confuse that.

I love staying with hosts and getting to know them, but I'm also very independent so you won't have to look after me all the time or show me everything by yourselfe. If you do have time, I'll be very happy if you show me around or we go out for dinner or a drink! Or I cook something for you or whatever, as long as we have a good talk, get to know and learn from each other. I am a great fan of hosting, too, but my place is too small for everyone to feel cozy, but I'll show you around or show you the good corners of Leipzig.

Music, Movies, and Books

This is hard to tell and constantly changing. I am currently reading a lot of books by Margaret Atwood, TC Boyle and other novels - travelling I started reading more again lately. I watch more series than movies, the typical ones that are on right now - Black Mirror, Stranger Things, Modern Family, and I have seen most classic sitcoms. My absolute favourite tho is Please Like Me. Music is the hardest of these, I currently listen to Dope Lemon, Agar Agar, Angus and Julia Stone, Tash Sultana, First Aid Kit, Conor Oberst, Milky Chance and some electronic music like HVOB, Nicola Cruz, Niconé and Polo and Pan.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a good cook! And I love spending time while cooking and having dinner, so that's something I can share. I guess the biggest thing I can share is my knowledge from my studies, so on geography, architecture, urbanism or sociology. Also I can teach you some German, but I don’t think there’s a reason to learn that.
