Well and more seriously: Obtaining that Master degree, trying to see a lot of this world, meet all kinds of people, trying to figure out where on earth you get the best pancakes and always up trying to find a new mission that's worth following :)

ABOUT ME

Well.. I'd say I'm a confessing media junkie and I love everything that has to do with new fancy media technology, movies, literature, gaming, Social Media, YouTube, whatever! I'm pretty easy going and love to just hang around with cool people in cool places such as bars, cinemas, parks, cafes, restaurants and so on.

I like to go clubbing and partying occasionally but normally if you're giving me the straight out choice I'd probably always opt for the relaxed bar rather than the club. This is especially true while travelling as 1) I'm normally on a shoestring and 2) I feel that clubbing and partying isn't normally really that different from home so I rather sit down in a bar and have some good conversations with people that I only have a few days with anyway. It just often feels more worthwhile to me. Depends a lot on the situation and the people around me, though...

I'd consider myself as fairly humourous although my references and friends would probably consider it as a rather dry (German?^^), quick-witted kind of humour rather than the "I can tell you the best joke you've ever heard"-kind of humour.

Also, I'd say I'm pretty open and flexible in a paradoxical combination with being very structured at the same time. Basically that means: IF I plan things ahead, I'm very thorough and know where I'm going when I leave the house. However, very often when travelling I don't really plan a lot or if I do, I tend to change plans while going. This is because I sometimes have the feeling that life's just drawing you in one direction and if it does so you should probably follow. (Sorry, that sounds awkwardly spiritual, which I'm normally not^^). In short: I just sort of go with it, whatever "it" may be in the specific case ;)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Unfortunately I can't really host anyone here but I'd be very happy to just meet up and listen to the newest traveler stories! Plus, I love exploring places with strangers and see them through their eyes.

In general, love the idea of not only seeing places but also faces (of locals^^) and sharing time with people who are actually living at the place I'm visiting. Because when I think back... The best memories I've taken from my travels were always connected to people and not so much to the places itself :D And in my experience great people can normally make even the shittiest place on earth awesome but the other way round (great place but shitty people) does rarely work :p

When being a guest, I'd say I'm pretty easy-going and flexible. I don't necessarily expect my hosts to spend tons of time with me but of course I love it when they do and got the time to show me around a bit, sit down with me for a cup of coffee/ glass of wine/ dinner/... enjoy a good conversation, share stories (the cool ones, the fun ones, the sad ones - I've got a Bachelor degree in Comparative Literature, believe me I take them all :D ) or whatever they are up to. But seriously, in case you end up hosting me: Don't worry, I'll be fine. Whether you want to spend all your free time with me or whether you just want to "park" me on your couch and be left alone... I can handle it all ;)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

To be honest I haven't really used couchsurfing that often (don't even know why myself.. maybe because I've got so many friends studying abroad which I can just visit that I mostly haven't really needed it so far..... so basically: I've surfed on a lot of couches but not that much on ones owned by strangers ;)) ) But I still think its a great possibility for meeting locals, get to know other people and share travel stories!

All of the few "real official" CS-experiences I had so far, however, were absolutely great and what I really love is how different they can be: From funny, weird, inspiring, interesting, slightly weird, to whatever other adjectives there are.
I love the kind of special open atmosphere at a host's place. I love how you often open up to a total stranger and have deep conversations about almost anything... (Personally, I call it the"taxi driver phenomenon").
And it's sort of addictive, I guess. At least, I definitely want to use it more and more and more!

Interests

I love going to the cinema, dancing (especially Swing and everything related), reading, meeting friends and - of course - traveling. I'm super interested in literature and media, especially in new media, movies, YouTube, Social Media, you name it. At the moment I'm especially into Virtual Reality, plus, I absolutely love gaming!

Music, Movies, and Books

Well.. considering that I've got a Bachelor degree in Comparative Literature and Media Studies and that I'm studying a Master degree in Cinema and Audiovisual Cinema you can imagine that I have way too many favorites to post them all.

But some films I like would be "Hail, Caesar!", "Her", "Brokeback Mountain", "Some like it hot", "Memento", "The Skin I live in", "The Exterminating Angel", "Into the Wild" - it goes through all genres and styles. Although... I'm really not into Romantic-Comedies. Probably the one exception :D

Books: My absolute favorite (at the moment) is "Lonesome Dove" and I also enjoyed "The Cowboy and the Cossack" as well as "Life of Pi". I can also recommend "Into the Wild" (yes as a book) and "All the light we cannot see".

Music: I know it's horrible but I'm one of those "I listen to almost anything"-kind of people. My rule is: It has to go into your head, your heart or your legs - and that can apply to all types of music.
To write at least anything concrete: I really like Bodo Wartke and Rainald Grebe (two German cabaretists... unfortunately you'd have to know German to understand them), "Fiddler's Green" (Irish-Pop-Rock), "Moop Mama" (German-Urban-Brass-Hip-Hop-Pop-sth). I also adore soundtracks, currently especially the soundtrack of "Chef".
Oh.. and I guess I'm kind of a Jazz fan in all its forms (New Orleans, Swing, you name it).

TV: I never really find the time to finish TV series but there're some I really like and at least try watching: "House of Cards", "Orange is the New Black", "Sherlock", "Torchwood", "The Walking Dead", "Breaking Bad", "Black Mirror", "Big Bang Theory", "Rick&Morty", "Firefly", "Family Guy", "The Simpsons", ... But really, I'm not watching most of them regularly. Too many media, too little time :(

Teach, Learn, Share

Well if you're interested I can share some fancy Cinema theories from my studies with you or teach you the most important phrases in German. Like you know those memes: "You're only German when you can pronounce 'tschechisches Streichholzschächtelchen auf griechisch-chinesischen Passagierschiffen'" ? I can teach you that! (Although I fail pretty often with that one on the first try, myself... But it's a bit unfair anyway, as it's a tongue twister)
I'd also say that I make pretty decent pancakes and I've got a great recipe for peach goulash!
Also, I can offer to teach you some basic steps of Swing Dancing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories about travelling, a coffee, recipes, experiences and most of all: a good time. Oh and currently I can bring you Canadian Maple Syrup :)

I actually have a - in my opinion - really funny story about being followed by a single cow while jungle-tracking on a Cambodian island. Ask me about it, should I forget. It's actually hilarious.... Really, it involves me frightened to death because of a stupid cow and me trying to get rid of it in a number of ridiculous ways... Thinking about it... it's also a bit embarassing, I guess :D

I also have another one about a dog blocking my way somewhere in the nowhere in the middle of the night in Laos where I'd actually had to be "rescued" by a local on his motorbike to pass that stupid dog....
I wonder how I always get into those situations :D
