About Me

ABOUT ME

A fairly easy-going, sociable and well-mannered guy from Finland. I'm a freelance designer, artist and musician. I try to travel as much as I can and at home I enjoy yoga, cooking, tending a small vegetable patch in the Summer and all basic things in life in general.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm very much into communality as a philosophy and just getting to know people unconditionally through travelling and staying with strangers is just the best!

Interests

Travelling, well that's probably a no-brainer for most members of CS.
I play in a couple of bands of which Hanging Garden is the most active one. You can check it out at http://www.hanging-garden.net In addition to playing I also sometimes listen to music as well.
I do Transcendental Meditation and recently I've started with yoga as well.
Then there's art, design etc. which are both a hobby and a profession http://www.ninohynninen.com
I also take much enjoyment out of the basic, simple things like cooking, tending the garden and so on.

Music, Movies, and Books

These change regularly, but at the moment I'm very much into 80's New Wave stuff. Not any bands in particular, but just the feel of the genre.
Fields of the Nephilim, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Bat for Lashes, Katatonia are ones of my all-time favourites.
As far as movies go, I tend to watch a lot of them. David Lynch is by far my most favourite director.
I'm so slow at reading, but I try to get at least a couple of books read every year. I usually do books in phases. Now I'm in my political, activism, thought-provoking phase and reading Le Carré's The Constant Gardener.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Couple of months I spent living and working in Swaziland, Southern Africa. The culture, the people, the whole atmosphere and vibe of the place had a tremendous impact on me.
I would like to say something insightful about the small, introspective, things in life that usually leave you most awestruck. You propably know what I mean :)
