ABOUT ME

I like the simple things in life (which is not to say that I cannot enjoy the finer things in life, instead that i do enjoy them but cannot afford them and have thus decided to give them up until future notice).
My favorite place on earth is the Namib Desert, which can always astound me with its silence and beauty. I love my country; there is nowhere else I would like to live. Unfortunately my young blood is making me itch for a chance to see more of the world, and so now is the time when I am at home least.
From a psychological perspective, I would describe myself as interesting, unobtrusive, patient, loud or soft (depending on my mood), outgoing or shy (depending on my mood; and no, I am not bi-polar).
I love animals, especially dogs (not so much cats, but, eh, they're OK).
I love my family (a better looking bunch of people you aint never seen) and I love my bed. So a couch will be a big change.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in seeing the good in all situations, in all places and in all people. I believe that it is every person's responsibility to add to the benefit of the whole humankind by being a positive human being. I see no point in pessimism.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't mind offering my couch (or the spare room) depending on what my parents think of my new found interest. But really the reason I am on here is to find accomodation and build an experience that will last till the day I'm 80 and sitting on my "stoep" (porch in Afr).

Interests

Art, music, restaurants (sitting, eating and talking), dogs (they're so cute!), traveling, experiencing more of life, amazing people, buildings, places, books, the ocean, the earth and its welfare.

Music, Movies, and Books

Terry Pratchett, the only writer that makes me lough out loud (not LOL, sheesh). Good movies, but made in a way that isn't the regular, like Coppola's Dracula (woa), and 500 Days of Summer.
My music taste changes as time passes, but generally I'm into soft indie, the classics, anything that makes me dance, a good ballad, or a relaxed tune.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Beautiful nature, as far as the eye can see, no human in sight, No, not Antarctica, but right here at home: the Namib Desert, where my soul rests and my heart sings.

Teach, Learn, Share

Always expect the best to happen, because if you do, you'll experience it the best. Be open to strangers, they might just give you the smile you'd been missing, or vise versa.
