About Me
Hi there, my name is Nishan and I'm a student from Malaysia. I'm currently a sophomore at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. I completed my high school in Singapore last year at the Anglo-Chinese School Independent and after leaving home at the age of 15, travelling has very much become a big part of my life.
I think I've been lucky enough to have already done a fair bit of travelling as a 20 year old. Perhaps my most exciting trip was a two week road trip in New Zealand with a childhood friend a couple years ago. Actually I think it was the trek to Everest Base Camp in Nepal this summer - it was beautiful.
I love hiking and mountain climbing too, I've scaled a number of mountains in Southeast Asia and have my sights set on Kilimanjaro in Tanzania when the time is right.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm a student looking to explore the world on a budget and I figured Couchsurfing is the way to go. I've had the privilege of travelling to many places around the world and I look forward to seeing more of the world not just through my own eyes, but through those of the locals that I may live with.
I just stayed with an AirBnb host in New York and they had this to say about my friends and I: “Nishan and his friends were all wonderful! They were kind, clean, respectful, and generally a great group of people to have around. I would have any of them back any time!”
One day when I have a place of my own, I hope to open my doors to travellers just like myself, to give them a home away from home too!

Music, Movies, and Books
I LOVE Coldplay and have already got tickets to their concert in Houston, Texas on August 25th 2017. I am so excited! I listen to all kinds of music but my favourite bands are Coldplay, The Script, One Republic, The Fray, Maroon 5 and maybe Chris Daughtry!
I watch all kinds of movies, always up for a good horror movie or a thriller. My favourite genre is psychological thriller which is probably why movies like Shawshank Redemption, Inception and most recently, The Silence of the Lambs.
I've read extensively as a child (Enid Blyton is amazing) and a few compelling books recently such as Naomi Klein's This Changes Everything and Malcolm Gladwell's two books, "Outliers" and "What the Dog Saw" both gave me a really fresh perspective on the world around me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last summer I completed a two week trek to Everest Base Camp in Nepal. It was an amazing journey and I'd be glad to tell you all about it, show you pictures and even the video of our plane landing at the worlds most dangerous airport (I was filming the whole thing from literally right behind the pilot). I would return to Nepal in a heartbeat and was definitely one of the most special moments in my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you practically any racquet sport (save tennis), how to solve a Rubik's cube, my experiences at Everest Base Camp. I could probably help you repair some simple things around the house too if you'd like!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Intellectual conversations about anything and everything. I always love hearing a fresh perspective and offering my take on the world around me :)
