Overview
About Me
Hello. I am an Indian student at Delft, Netherlands. I've been living and traveling in Europe for the past 5 years.
I love to cook Indian food, and am always up for learning how to cook new things. I listen to Brazilian and American jazz, and like read about places far away from my world. Traveling offers me the chance to learn about new things that interest me and it's how I find new music, new literature and new food!
I am also a freelance writer, and soon becoming one full-time. I write comedy online and for productions in India as well. I also run a popular Indian webcomic. Travel and the opportunity to meet new people expands my horizons and lets me watch people, and the way they go about living and enjoying their lives.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My roommate hosts guests at our house via CouchSurfing. I was introduced to the concept through him. Hosting people at our home made me realize what a boon this is for single, or small groups, of travelers who want to interact with people instead of only seeing monuments when they travel.
I find it a wonderful idea, which lets me immediately feel at home in a foreign land, with warm hospitality and the chance to learn intimately about the lives of people around the world.
Interests
I play badminton, and go running often.
I am a writer and have performed stand up comedy in some places in the past. I intend to do more with both of these interests in the near future.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love Django Reinhardt (french jazz guitarist). I listen to a lot of BB King, Albert King and other Blues artists. I have also been a fan of Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Beatles and the Rolling Stones for a very long time.
I love the movies of Quentin Tarantino and Woody Allen.
I like to read all kinds of things, as long as they have words on them that I understand. I read a lot of comic books and graphic novels, Alan Moore is my favourite writer among these. I also read novels about places far away from my world, and my favourite author is Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It was February 2011, my friends and I went up to the northernmost tip of Sweden, spending 16 hrs traveling one way to arrive at Kiruna (near the famous Gateway to Lapland). Despite our tight schedule (only one day in Kiruna), we managed to see the Northern Lights! It was -30 deg C and we were standing on a huge frozen lake at 1:30am and it was the most amazing recent experience of my life.
On the way to catch a glimpse of the Lights, we walked right past a full-grown moose sitting in the darkness under a tree. It was sitting motionless, and we only noticed it because it snorted loudly after we passed it. Someone said that seeing a moose is considered good luck. We survived the moose, and we saw aurora borealis. Seemed liked good luck, indeed!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to cook Indian food, and teach others how to cook it. It's surprisingly easy and everyone has good food at the end of it. Win win!
I draw webcomics, and am moderately famous in India for them. I am also a semi-professional freelance comedy writer.
