Overview
About Me
I was born and grew up in Trinidad, and spent a few years of my childhood in Romania and then Indonesia before returning to the island. My parents have always enjoyed travel, so I'm lucky they've taken me with them sometimes, and I visited Germany on summers. Both the valley I grew up in and my dad's home in Bavaria are surrounded by mountains, so they've always made me feel at home. I also enjoy the sea, lakes and rivers (but only when the water isn't too cold! I am an island girl after all).
I moved to Germany for university - as a German citizen I felt I should learn the language, and get to know the country and culture better. It's also a great place to study environmental and resource management. I really enjoyed living there! I did a semester abroad in Brazil, but unfortunately I've forgotten most of the Portuguese I learned due to lack of practice :( Now back in Trinidad for the moment, though I do plan on moving back to Germany eventually.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to meet and talk to people from different countries and cultures, I love to travel, and accommodation can get expensive. Couchsurfing seems like the logical way to blend this ;)
Interests
Since I was a child my nose has usually been buried in a book! I still have a weakness for books (and scarves, and souvenirs, and shopping in general...) I do have an outdoorsy side though. I enjoy hiking, cycling and swimming.
I love to cook and experiment with new recipes. I also enjoy discovering new food, and will try almost anything (I draw the line at bugs and any endangered animal). I like baking - my specialties are banana bread, carrot cake and cookies. Though I enjoy solitude sometimes, one of my favourite pastimes is a good conversation - whether with a stranger or an old friend, about anything from tv to the meaning of life! I'm passionate about environmental, social and demographic issues, so those topics will always get me going. And, of course, I love to travel.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: Huge Harry Potter fan. It would get too long to list all my favourite books, so I'll just say I'm a fan of fantasy and young adult books are underrated. Recently read and loved the Six of Crows duology, and I'm getting back into reading Tamora Pierce.
I don't watch many movies, but my taste is quite varied. I enjoyed How To Train Your Dragon and Pitch Perfect as well as The Lives of Others and The Help.
TV: I try to keep up with Scandal, The Mindy Project, Reign, Agent Carter and Broad City. I will, someday, catch up with Orange is the New Black.
My taste in music is also quite diverse. My phone has music by Norah Jones, John Denver, Stefan Hrusca, Florence + the Machine, 3 Canal and Bunji Garlin.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Semester abroad in Brazil and interrailing through Switzerland, Luxembourg and Belgium by myself.
