About Me

1. If my whole personality could be summarized in one word I'd say "zoanthropy", which means one believes oneself to be an animal. I started calling myself a mouse since I was 3 years old and even nowadays I do sometimes still behave like one (in a cute and harmless way).

2. Usually I don't have photographs taken unless it's required by the law. However I'm trying my best to survive this archive-dominated post-modern world. Excuse me if you think no real photo means dishonesty. You're welcomed to video chat with me before we meet if you simply wanna check out my appearance to make sure I'm not a badass, which makes no logical sense. But relax, I'm here talking to you with all my heart open, no less then anyone who shows pictures of themselves.

3. My MBTI(Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) result is INTP, if that helps.

4. I never ask people where they're from and I love being around those who have difficulties to answer.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Sometimes when you either travel for too long or stay in one place for too long your mind tends to disclose itself. Believe or not, it happens in both situations. And I need an aspirin for that.

Interests

Improvising murals. I paint not only on the walls but also on instruments and random stuffs that I picked up from the street. Getting lost, To encounter local musicians as well other incredible residents (human or not) in town. And to write about them instead of taking pictures. Then as a light packer, both mentally and physically, I send those writings away via mail or in a random corner of some cafe and never look at them again.

Music, Movies, and Books

Filmmakers: Emir Kusturica, Jan Svankmajer, Sergei Parajanov, Pedro Almodovar, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Charlie Kaufman (Basically just anything with some sort of pagan vitality and organized chaos, the same characteristics also apply to the music part)

Bands: Forseti, Radical Face, Têtes Raides, Slavic Soul Party, Belborn, [The] Slowest Runner [In All the World], Beirut, Lube (The list would be too long if I keep editing)

Books: Le citta invisibili, On Photography (Actually I write more than I read, since I observe the world from the inside -- What an excuse!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have a very poor memory, and I do believe that's because my brain doesn't function in a way that leaves too much space for the past. The most amazing thing will always be the next thing I'm going to do. Life is all about fighting against the reduction of possibilities, although that process is what made us who we are. But we are not settled.

Teach, Learn, Share

To exchange ideas rather then skills. I believe in the way Socrates and Confucius taught. All great thoughts emerge from conversations. Real conversations between people who don't see others through their cultural stereotypes but actually try to communicate with an individual. People are complicated and can't be easily classified. That's one fantastic thing about us.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Tips on how to survive as well having fun on a shoestring in New York. You've got the right person to ask if you're rather into the "underground" version of the city.

My paintings, hand-printed or on-site. If you happen to have some acrylic paint I can find a way to decorate any object in your place. I was never trained as a professional artist though, so it only works if you do enjoy my style. See pictures in the album.
