Overview
About Me
I walk a lot when I'm travelling. I like to explore new places by foot. Or bike. I can make a good cup of coffee and a decent cup of tea. I'm looking for music, museums, good cafes, good bars, good people. Who isn't?
Love dogs. Love cats. I've been told I'm nice. And chill. And I do try to be both things.
Oh, and I can juggle! I'm just not very good at it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To meet new people, to pick their brains about anything from local bands to the world at large. I've stayed in a LOT of hostels, and they can be great! But I love meeting locals. And you only ever meet tourists in hostels, if you meet anyone at all. So I guess I couchsurf because I'm curious about the places I visit and the people who live there. I'd much rather find someone who'll take me to an awesome café/dive bar on some sketchy-looking side street than just go from one tourist trap to the next.
I love to hang out, but I don't necessarily expect hosts to have a lot of free time to spend with me. But I'd never ask to stay with someone if I didn't have time to spend with them. That's what hostels are for.
Interests
I like all sorts of things, really. I'm interested in most things that can be made interesting, if that makes sense. But obviously, I know a hell of a lot about movies, something about music, and I've read a book or two. I will chew your ear off about Star Wars, old rock bands, politics, travelling, and the finer points of ignoring boring things.

Music, Movies, and Books
So much! Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem, Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen, David Bowie... I have a lot of vinyl. And a lot of books. Too many books. And I'm a film journalist, so odds are I've seen your favourite film. Maybe I even hated it, then we'll have something to argue about!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Slept through New Year's Eve 1999/2000.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach how to brew kombucha? Or bake bread? Or take good instant photos? I'm happy to share whatever I've got, and to cook a big batch of whatever. Or buy a six-pack and chill out.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Pancakes. Riveting anecdotes of my adventures hunting for coffee in Oaxaca and beer in Leipzig. A hand if you need to move a couch.
