About Me
CURRENT MISSION
aspiring urban planner and bicycle tourist
ABOUT ME
I'm from Oklahoma and I love the great plains, but Arkansas feels more like home. I moved to Nevada in 2007 and haven't regretted it. Occasionally I miss warm evenings, thunderstorms, and leafy plants.
I enjoy learning about new places. My nemesis is the ocean. I love it and it terrifies me.
I enjoy political campaigns, narrative histories, and discussions about sustainability and American cities.
I like to cook and bake, although I don't know much about these things yet.
I'm always up for a discussion of South American history, languages, and consumer capitalism.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm concerned about the effect of personal media devices on attention spans and social interaction. I am wary of technology, caffeine, and THC.

Music, Movies, and Books
Let's be honest: the Rolling Stones are far less annoying than the Beatles.
I have no shame about singing along to "Mandy" and "Desperado." Wilco's A.M., Springsteen's Born in the USA, and Neil Young's On the Beach are a few of my favorite albums. Tom Waits is also great.
Talk to Her is one of my favorite movies, but Almodóvar isn't for everyone.
The Tin Drum. Master and Margarita. The Feast of the Goat.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been to all corners of the vast state of Nevada and seen wildlife, sunsets, and isolation that I never thought I'd experience. It's great (though a bit cold) out here.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love talking about South American history and the Spanish language, or the settlement of the western US and subsequent resource and land management decisions.
Languages.
I'm up for learning more about pretty much anything.

Austria, Bolivia, Czech Republic, Paraguay, Uruguay
