About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I dream big and play ultimate.

ABOUT ME

In a nutshell, I dream big and play ultimate. Ever since I discovered Ultimate Frisbee in high school, my life has revolved around it in some way whether is has been playing, captaining, coaching, taking pictures or even working with the new professional team in Chicago. In 2016, I started a company focused on running ultimate tournaments in the Midwest--can't wait to see where it will take me!

I took a year off from working as an engineer to discover more about myself and my passions. In that year I spent time as a repair guy at Holden Village in Washington, became a professional ultimate frisbee photographer, toured around Europe playing ultimate with my best friends and made some wonderful memories. I am back to working as an engineer again on the south side of Chicago, but what I learned in the past year about myself and the world has had a profound influence on the way I live my life now.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is too short to spend it all in one place. When you finally find something that you truly love to do, I believe that is what you are meant to do. If it takes a lifetime to find that special thing, at least you made quite a few memories along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surf, host, and proclaim the greatness of CS to all my friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

"Strangers are friends you haven't made yet" - me

Couchsurfing is an experience that forces you to become vulnerable to others. At first is was a little stressful but the more I have surfed and hosted, the more I have come to love the opportunities to cross paths with other interesting people. I have found that I have so many similarities with the people I surf with because it takes a certain kind of person to do it.

All in all, I think Couchsurfing is a model for how the world should work. We should be trusting of each other, willing to share and open to new ideas.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sitting on a bench with 4 other guys licking ice cream cones watching a traffic jam in the little city of Poysdorf, Austria. I can't think of the last time I laughed so hard. We probably made over 100 people burst into laughter when they saw 4 grown men crammed onto a bench licking ice cream with big smiles.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you want to learn about how to play Ultimate, I would love to spend hours talking your ears off about it and throwing a disc around, but let's be honest, that is probably a bit too much about a sport that you've never heard about. Either way, I live to learn, so teach me everything you know.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you have a camera, I'd love to do a photo walk with you around Chicago!
