About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I am open to all new experiences and just want to learn as much about the world as I can, while I can.
ABOUT ME
While I tend to be more reserved at first, I really love to meet new people and see new places. I have great friends and family here in the Midwest, as well as a career as a cook that I love (and that fortunately allows me to travel to learn more about food). I speak Spanish fluently and want to go back and see more of Spain as well as South America as soon as I can. I also speak some French, and am trying to learn as much as I can about French culture and, most importantly, French cuisine.
PHILOSOPHY
I strive to live in the moment and enjoy where I am right now, so as to stay open to new experiences and appreciate the life I have. It isn't easy--we tend to live for the future, to plan for the next big thing while forgetting that there is so much going on around us in the present. Yoga and meditation really help me to get closer to my goal of being present, and I am currently studying the philosophy behind both practices.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I stayed with hosts for the first time this last month in Paris, and I have loved it! It really makes you feel welcome in a foreign country to have at least a few people that you know, and a lot of the people I have met through couchsurfing are truly kind, generous, and interested in others and in learning about the world.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Paris, France for the past month!
Interests
I love food and everything about life in the culinary world, so I read a lot of cookbooks and food blogs. I also read fiction when I have the time, draw on just about anything, and knit a lot to keep myself occupied.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Studying in Spain my senior year of college was life-changing--just being immersed in another culture (and one so rich in art, social life, and food) allowed me to open myself up more than I had ever before. More recently, I have been working with close friends in producing amazing locally-sourced food and educating people about farm-to-table food, so I feel so honored to be a part that. Hosting my first dinner last fall with three of my closest friends, out on their farmland, with the sun setting and happy people eating our food was one of the best nights I've had yet.
