About Me

CURRENT MISSION

build a better community while eating delicious food

ABOUT ME

I grew up in a small town in central Pennsylvania, United States. After spending a year in Berlin, Germany between high school and university, I was hooked on travel and meeting interesting people from around the world. Since then, I've spent some significant time (at least a few months) in Spain, Guatemala, Mexico, and Colombia. I feel incredibly privileged to have met so many amazing people along the way. Now I live in Washington, D.C., a very international sort of place, where I have a lovely job advocating for the rights of farmworkers. Let's meet!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am just getting started here--I had a great time at the weekly meetup and am looking forward to hosting a surfer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm very much a newcomer to this community. My one CS-like experience happened in 2010, when an acquaintance contacted me out of the blue to tell me that a guy she knew was coming to Bogotá, and could he stay with me? Turned out to be a great fellow, and my gateway to the wonderful bogotano CS community.

Interests

languages, transportation, social justice (I don't yet know exactly what that is, but I'm interested in it!), meeting interesting people, food, wandering

Movies: Harold & Maude, Young Frankenstein, The Battle of Algiers, The Godfather, Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid

Books: Me Talk Pretty One Day; Guns, Germs & Steel; Slaughterhouse-Five, Fun Home, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once saw a volcano erupting--looking down into the smoldering crater from a vantage point atop an even taller (dormant) volcano nearby! Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, 2007.
