I've been pretty inactive since joining a few years ago, but I'm looking to change that!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Stayed with some great and really hospital people in Guadalajara, Mexico for a few days.

Interests

I'm big on culture, identity and the intersections of all of that.
art-- mostly modern but some periods from the mid 1800s and beyond interest me, music and it's implications in science, education and media, dancing, soccer (fútbol) "Reality TV" ---occasionally, it's a good escape from actual reality.

Music, Movies, and Books

Top 5 favorite movies (Right now)- School of Rock, Casino, Hero (With Jet Li)
Music - I was raised on reggae (my parents are from Jamaica) so Bob Marley (of course) Beres Hammond, Dennis Brown, Garnet Silk and all the other masters of reggae/r&b are up there. I like rappers like Kendrick Lamar, Laueyn Hill, Shad K and Blu are some favorites. Singers with soul or raspy voices like Ray Lamontagne, Sam Cooke, Raheem DeVaughn or Jill Scott will always have a place. I love 90 r&b I have nothing but the utmost respect for legends like The Rat Pack, The Jacksons (group and solo stars) but I love to dance too, so Djs/bands like Major Lazer, Big Gigantic and Passion Pit are pretty cool with me. Plus some house, gospel, blues in there...why not.
Books --- I really liked the poisonwood Bible, The Game of Thrones series, but also Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paulo Friere

As far as 'practical' skills go-- I'm thinking I have a pretty good handle on the English language. If you're looking for grammar help, I got you! That or cooking if your an absolute novice!
