Overview
About Me
I am a writer and an assistant to a filmmaker who also happens to be a Bhutanese lama. I've been living out of my suitcase for many years so I have lots and lots of experience as a houseguest. I do have a house in upstate New York and when I am there, am happy to receive couchsurfers. I'm writing a novel at the moment and I also have a column in Tricycle Magazine. This year I discovered the beauty of staying at an artist residency. Now I would like to try couchsurfing. My web site is www.noajones.com if you'd like to know more or read more.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As I write this I am in Bodhgaya, India. I'm heading to the middle east and then back to India then to Bhutan then to Canada. Mostly for work. But when I'm not needed, I am left to my own devices and I can work from anywhere. I am very keen to go to the Jaipur Literary Festival and meet up with some of the writers I have met in southeast Asia. I've spent a lot of time in India but never in Rajasthan.
Interests
Literature and philosophy. And riding bikes on gentle country lanes and picnics and mild weather. I love live music and salsa dancing and any dancing. I am a fan of shoes but live a life in a suitcase which prevents me from collecting even a fraction of what I would like. I am very interested in hot showers and not at all interested in cold showers. I am interested in water sources and sewage systems and systems in general.

Music, Movies, and Books
I guess this is to show you a bit of my character. My favorite writer right now is George Saunders. I listen to Radiohead a lot. But am a big fan of natural ambient sound. Bird in trees and wind and rivers etc. Movies...hmmm. So many. Ozu comes to mind. But I love to watch simple love stories and comedies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I met Ravi Shankar, I've trekked through Bhutan to the border of Tibet, I've recently sat in a stadium during a World Cup soccer game, I've dined with holy men and royals and beggars, all at the same table. Now that you ask, I've done some amazing things! I feel very lucky.

So much!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I might have a few things in my bag gathered from here and there, nothing of great material value. But I can tell you pretty stories and lend you my ear. I also have a habit of connecting people to other people or things that end up being quite meaningful, I've heard.
