About Me

Hi there! I'm a young man with an old soul and VERY itchy feet. Since i was little, my greatest aspiration has been to go places Ive never been, get to know people I've never met, and not stop until I've seen it all and find a place that truly feels like home. I've traveled all around the United States, taking jobs wherever they are as long as it's somewhere new! From NYC to national parks, from Montana to New Mexico, i have had some of the best times of my life in this country. But it has never felt like home and I've always known I needed to leave. I've always known that there is much more out there for me. I have always been driven by a lust for life and an undying desire for new and real experiences!
I'm always friendly but a little quiet by nature, although I become very outgoing when I find myself with people I connect with or in places that warm my soul :) I am fascinated by people and want nothing more than to hear about your life, learn from your stories, and try to see the world from your perspective. I find peace in the most remote and quiet areas of nature and in the most hectic and lively city streets and bars. I am attracted to the unique, the outlandish, the strange, and the experimental. Take me to the weirdest places in town, show me the strangest movie you've seen, the craziest song you've heard, and i will be eternally grateful and I'll try to return the favor!!
When I'm not busy simply enjoying life and basking in all its beauty, I fill my time with reading, writing(mostly poetry), playing drums, swimming anywhere I can, cooking, and I'm always up for a good party or a late night out! I like to think of myself as a happy, grateful, kind, fun, openminded and curious soul who is calm and serene, perfectly content with simply being alive no matter the situation, while simultaneously in a constant state of joy and ecstasy, always feeling the excitement of all the potential that this life and this world have to offer :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The people i meet while traveling are just as important to me as the places i go. Saving money aside, would much rather crash on a kind and interesting person's couch after a night of fun and conversation than sleep in a hotel room thats not much different from all the other hotel rooms in the world and closed off from all the culture I came to experience!

Interests

Just about anything interests me as long as its not harmful or bigoted!! I share an extremely deep connection with nature and I love just about anything that gets me outside or into the wilderness. I am an avid hiker, a master of sitting next to rivers and listening to the forest, a very enthusiastic student of snowsports, and I have a dream of learning how to surf!
On the other hand, I am fascinated by people and I love being around them. I often find myself sitting around in cities, just watching the people go by. Bars and museums are two of my favorite places because of the way people act in them. I think it's easiest to see deeply into someone's character when they're either lost in the beauty of the art that is in front of them, or when they've lost all inhibitions and are acting just as happy or sad as they feel deep down inside. It's fascinating:)
I'm not afraid to say that music and writing saved my life. I write any time i can, about anything and everything, and I am ALWAYS in the middle of reading a book that i can't seem to put down :) i am a shameless music nerd and i have been playing drums for about ten years now. There is almost nothing i love more than finding people to jam out and play music with!
And as a young traveller it probably goes without saying, if there's a party, ill be there 😁 there's not much better than celebrating life!

Music, Movies, and Books

I truly do listen to all types of music, as long as its made with soul and integrity!! Im a big fan of jazz, r&b, experimental rock, some hip hop, and certain genres of metal, folk music, and anything that cant be defined :)
I'm mostly drawn to surrealist film, directors like Stanley Kubrick, David Lynch, and (my favorite) Yorgos Lanthimos. But just like music, ill watch anything as long as its made with heart!
Some of my favorite authors/poets are Kurt Vonnegut, Rainer Maria Rilke, William Carlos Williams, Basho, Tom Robbins, Gary Snyder, and (of course) Jack Kerouac :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hard to pick between scuba diving in southern Thailand and hiking Sepulcher Peak in Yellowstone National Park :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I am always eager to hear people's stories and learn about their lives, and I'm always happy to return the favor! I love cooking with people and trading recipes, food is a true joy in life. If you'd like i can teach you a thing or two about rhythm and percussion, I love swapping books and talking about poetry, literature, film, music, places, and i especially love trading worldviews and personal philosophies! Any skill you have or any subject you know a lot about, I would love for you to talk my ear off and tell me everything you know about it! And of course, it would mean the world to me if you took me to your favorite places in the area :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation, a partner for your adventures (in the wilderness or in the city, early morning or late night), a shoulder to cry on, good music and movies, help with any chores or errands you might need a hand with, and most importantly i can promise you the utmost respect for your home, your rules, and your wishes. Despite my free and easygoing character i take pride in being extremely respectful and polite, and never causing anyone any grief or annoyance. I understand there is a lot of trust involved in opening your home up to people, and i promise to be clean and tidy and abide by all of your house rules :) I hate imposing and my mission is to make you glad you invited me to crash on your couch!!
