About Me

My name is Noah, and I'm a pretty nice guy! I was born and raised on Long Island, near New York City, and I currently live in Manhattan. I graduated from college with a double major in Theatre Arts and Spanish. I studied abroad in Sevilla, Spain, and I also spent a semester living in Orlando, Florida while participating in the Walt Disney World College Program.

After graduating, I directed a student musical at Columbia University. I also started working at the MTV Store in Times Square. This led to a position in the Commercial Operations department, where I worked on many Viacom networks, including Comedy Central, Spike, and TVLand. I was with the company for over 11 years.

I enjoy traveling and learning about different cultures. I like to meet new people wherever I go, and I can often be found socializing with my friends and hanging out at parties and events. I care about environmental conservation and social justice. My interests include art, music, theatre, museums, parks, movies, history and reading. I also love theme parks, and I'm an expert in that area.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm going to be traveling, and I'd like to experience some of the local culture beyond the tourist attractions. I want to know what life is like for the people in the cities that I'll be visiting. I'm also hoping that I will be able to stay within my budget, which will allow me to see and do more with the resources that I have. It seems like couchsurfing is the perfect solution to achieve all of these goals.

Music, Movies, and Books

My musical tastes are very broad. I like pop, rock, punk, musical theatre, Broadway, jazz, electronic, classical, trip hop, folk and much more! My favorite pop artists are Mika, Ke$ha, Maroon 5, Bowling for Soup, No Doubt, Greenday, Michael Jackson, Fountains of Wayne, Gym Class Heroes, Owl City, Lady Gaga, Simple Plan, Jason Mraz, the Jonas Brothers, Jason Derulo, Fall Out Boy, etc. As a Broadway fan, I am pretty knowledgeable about musical theatre. My favorite albums include Little Shop of Horrors, Ragtime, Avenue Q, Newsies, South Pacific, Company and Into the Woods, among others. I'm especially fond of Alan Menken, Stephen Sondheim, and Richard Rodgers.

Not surprisingly, when it comes to movies, I like musicals, fantasies, and comedies. I love all Disney movies, but especially those with music by Alan Menken, such as Aladdin and Hercules. I also like Moulin Rouge, The Wizard of Oz, Fight Club, American Pie, and Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle.

My favorite books are The Great Gatsby, Ragtime, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, A People's History of the United States, and 1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For my 30th birthday, I hosted an event at Greenhouse nightclub in New York. Instead of bringing presents, I asked all of my guests to donate to 2 of my favorite charities. We raised over $2000 for Greenpeace and the Ali Forney Center. It was an incredibly rewarding experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning about history and culture, and I'm happy to share aspects of my own culture with anyone who is interested.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm always willing to offer my help when it is needed. I'll be happy to pitch in with any projects that my hosts are working on. I'm knowledgeable about theatre, pop culture, theme parks, and the arts. I also speak a bit of Spanish (although I need to improve my comprehension). I come from a Jewish American family, and I can always answer questions about my cultural background.

When you come to New York City, I'll be happy to be your tour guide. I've lived here for over a decade, and I know a lot of great parks, restaurants, clubs and more. There are so many fascinating neighborhoods, and so many things to discover. We'll have lots of fun together!
