Overview
About Me
Texas born and bred; working/studying in the UK. Hoping to see as much of the world along the way as I can! My work (genetics research) has taken me to many places, especially West Africa, but I try to see more on my own :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
This community encompasses what I like about travelling - people who want to meet people, seeing and experiencing a place first-hand rather than through someone else's predetermined schedule. I hope to make many friends along the way, and (depending on my living situation) host as many people as possible!
Interests
I'm working as a bioinformatician, so I'm interested in maths, science, and computer science. But my real passion is learning languages and travelling - especially getting to hike and see what the 'wilderness' is like in other places. I also play the piano, though not as frequently as I'd like to :(
Music, Movies, and Books
Music - Not very picky! Grew up with classic rock, now really into anything from Mali or the desert.
Movies - Anything to do with the Cold War. Also, documentaries.
Books - Mostly non-fiction. I love graphic novels, especially ones that detail life abroad (Regards from Serbia, Pyongyang, etc.).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Road trip from Spain to Gambia -- driving through the endless Sahara, camping under the stars, passing through a minefield, getting dug out of the sand in Senegal, and so much more...
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach English and Spanish, as well as coding and biology. Would love to learn how to make local food and other languages in return.
What I Can Share with Hosts
An open an honest discussion about anything (including politics, religion, and any other typically 'taboo' topic!).
Countries I’ve Visited
Argentina, Cabo Verde, Cambodia, Chile, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Gambia, Germany, India, Italy, Luxembourg, Mauritania, Moldova, Morocco, Netherlands, Poland, Senegal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Viet Nam, Western Sahara
Countries I’ve Lived In
