About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Visit places I read about and studied my whole life

ABOUT ME

I am a student at the greatest university in the world, BYU. I lived in Hong Kong for two years volunteering and serving people. I learned Cantonese and I am studying Mandarin now. I love learning about people of all cultures. I play tennis and basketball and hiking beautiful Utah is one of my favorite hobbies. I also snowboard and love to eat exotic foods and attempt to cook them. I play piano and am obsessed with German and Italian opera. I am an avid reader and my favorite books are Brothers Karamazov and Don Quixote.

PHILOSOPHY

I am here to learn. I was in Hong Kong at my friend Chau Wan's tiny restaurant and I met a peculiar and deeply intelligent woman. She was the wife of a former diplomat from Singapore. We had one of the most impactful conversations in my young life. She shared mind-blowing experience after another, from tragic escapes from Malaysia and the death of a former lover to the joys of communing with nature and discovering new exotic lands. The one thing that stuck with me was her final advice to me: "Learn everything you can possibly get your hands on, for at the end of our lives, we are nothing but the sum of our accumulated knowledge." Since then, I have tried my best to absorb and study the richness of the collective human experience.

Interests

I play tennis and basketball and hiking beautiful Utah is one of my favorite hobbies. I also snowboard and love to eat exotic foods and attempt to cook them. I play piano and am obsessed with German and Italian opera. I am an avid reader and my favorite books are Brothers Karamazov and Don Quixote. In the end, I absolutely love conversation. I just love talking to people and hearing their story.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lost in Translation, The Seven Samurai, Blade Runner, Gattaca, Lord of the Rings (of course). My favorite music ranges from Classical Music ( Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Mozart, Wagner, Beethoven, and Grieg) to Electric-Indie (Broken Bells, Ejecta, Chvrches, Passion Pit, Washed Out, Royskopp, Beach House, Tame Impala, Youth Lagoon, Chad Valley, Postal Service, Crystal Fighters,) and my favorite bands are Radiohead, Neutral Milk Hotel, and The Shins. I also like some rap but pretty much limited to just Kid Cudi.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Arriving just in time to see the sun shine on the summer solstice through the Sun Temple in Machu Picchu.

Teach, Learn, Share

I speak Cantonese and Mandarin. I know piano and I can share anything about most of world history.
