About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm a 21-year-old student. I study computery-stuff at U of M and I daydream in class a lot about travelling to strange places and meeting all kinds of people, but I haven't done any of that yet.

I just tried to think of things to say about myself that would make me sound all snazzy and adventurous, then I gave up and wrote this instead.

I grew up here in Ann Arbor and it's totally beautiful here. I bike around aimlessly a lot, but it's kind of morose when it's your hometown and you essentially already know what you're going to find, right? I intend to talk to people when I explore, but I don't really have the moxy, so I made an account here to interact and be a part of other people's adventures, and when I'm done with college, maybe I'll go have one of my own.

PHILOSOPHY

None I guess?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I haven't participated yet. I plan to host some CouchSurfers over at my house sometime and I'll ask them how they like it, and how the whole thing works. If it sounds like something I can do, I might try being a real CSer in Europe in a year!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None so far.

Interests

Big fan of the internet. I read when I can, bike, play handball, squash, chess. I'm not crazy good at any of these, so don't feel like you have to be competent to ask if I want to play, because you totally don't.

I like social media a bit too much, the vlogbrothers, John Green, books meant for kids. There's a sort of warmth and honesty in Young Adult books that Capital-L-Literature doesn't usually have for me, so I think I like YA books more. That's kind of dorky, but I don't mind.

I already said I bike around a lot. I don't like to drive much. Besides, biking's healthier, cheaper, eco-friendlier, blah. Definitely more maneuverable in Ann Arbor than a car. I'm a bit of a hoodlum on my bike. I like to switch between the road and the sidewalk to get where I'm going faster, and to bike cross-country through parks and back yards.

I like trying new stuff and meeting new people, but I'm a bit rubbish at smalltalk, so I prefer meeting people in the process of /doing something/.

Music, Movies, and Books

Last movie I watched was a French one called The Intouchables. It was brilliant.

The new Daft Punk album, Random Access Memories, just dropped, so I've been streaming that on loop. My favorite track is Instant Crush. Check it out if you like 70s dance/electronica music!

I just read http://hpmor.com/ which is Harry Potter fan-fiction, (don't laugh! It's really brilliant!) about an alternate universe where Harry grew up raised by a scientist, and is incredibly rational about magical Britain. On my honor, this is a better read than Catcher in the Rye or Infinite Jest, I swear!
