Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Becoming a bridge builder between the sustainable way of living and the mainstream way of life. I use travelling as a learning tool to achieve that goal
ABOUT ME
I started travelling the world after finishing school in 2013 and I still am. I grew up in different ecovillages in Germany and Scotland. Right now exploring South America for 5 months. During this exploration I encountered a job offer of being a presenter in a TV Show. The TV show is about the festivals of the caribbean in Colombia - it is called GreenGo. (here is the trailer: https://www.facebook.com/Telecaribe/videos/961227767262317/)
Right now I am studying Sustainable Development at the University of St Andrews (Scotland) to progress in my mission.
PHILOSOPHY
Exuberant Frugality is what I live by. Also I like to describe myself as a little bit of a flanuer.
Also I have a blog on which you read about me in more detail: https://noajou.wixsite.com/travel/
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
One couchsurfing experience I had was staying with Sam in Mombasa. He lives in the Slum there and it was definitely an experience I won't forget.
Another one was in Bogota, Colombia where I stayed for nearly a week with a lovely group of people near La Candelaria.
Interests
Well travelling would be the obvious one, but really for me it is more about getting to experience different ways of living/people/cultures and improving myself in the process by learning from my experiences.
- festivals
- cooking
- tv
- traveling
- blogging
Music, Movies, and Books
Pleasantville, The Fall, Moonrise Kingdom, Limitless, Mr Nice and Fresh are just a couple of them.
The Way Of The Superior Man, Directing The Power Of Conscious Feelings, Seneca, Robinson Crusoe are some of the books.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was nearly killed by an elephant on my way to a Maasai village in Kenya and ate raw goat liver as a kind of ritual there. (spoiler: it wasn't nice)
Also I hitchhiked from Scotland to Istanbul which was a fantastic and wonderful experience.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am very good at athletic exercises (mainly talking about handstands here) and would love to share that with people. I also solve the rubiks cube which is something I love to do to kill time during long trips - often it sparks interesting conversations in that process. I love to share travel and life stories and exchange ideas.
