Overview
About Me
Hi!
I'm a full time university student in the US. I study Physics and Philosophy, but I love to learn about anything - languages, art, science, whatever! - especially if its something I've never seen before.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm traveling around Europe right now (on a student-sized budget) so I'm looking to both get an authentic experience and meet locals, as well as save on the touristy hotels. In general I'm a pretty shy person, so CS helps put me in contact with cool new people!
Interests
When I'm not having long conversations about Nietzsche I like to rock climb or go backpacking in the Sierras with friends. I also play trumpet in the Stanford LSJUMB (look it up if you don't know about it!).
I live in a co-op at stanford, where I have learned to cook a lot of vegetarian dishes, take care of a garden, run a house and set up rules for 50+ people, and learned to deal with perpetually dirty bathrooms.
In the future I would love to learn to kayak!

Music, Movies, and Books
One of the hardest questions here-
I'm currently in love with Proust, with Flaubert coming in a close second. For more academic (read: philosophy) Kafka and Nietzsche are my go-to's right now, but my single favorite volume is probably Plato's Republic.
I also have a soft spot for many of my childhood favorites - Harry Potter (who doesn't!), Lord of the Rings, His Dark Materials, Artemis Fowl, and the like :)
Music wise, I'm currently really into the Avener, Noah and the Whale, and Beirut.
My favorite movie is "My dinner with Andre", which I realize is a very hate-it love-it kinda thing.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been working with Stanford to initiate an entirely new dorm at stanford (first one in 20 years!) which will be humanities-themed. Really no idea what that will entail yet (reading groups?, weekly movies?, parisian cafe tables?), but I'd love to talk with you about it!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would love to talk to you about philosophy (although, really, who doesn't).
I can also offer advice about backpacking/hiking/outdoors stuff in California if you ever want to visit. I've been to all the major parks and national forests, and am always researching new spots.
