CURRENT MISSION

I am a college graduate looking to travel to warm locations, learn to surf, and bringing my music with me! (Yes a Wisconsin boy can play some mean rock/reggae!)

ABOUT ME

I'm a recent college graduate as of a year ago, and am looking to travel the world before I have to grow up and start a real job. My biggest passion in life is surely music! I love playing rock/reggae (Sublime stylee) and have been in a couple bands in Madison, WI and Duluth, MN. I grew up skiing and snowboarding (freestyle and backcountry), but am currently on a serious mission to learn to surf and to become proficient at it. Although I grew up in the cold north woods, my heart is surely tropical. People often refuse to believe that I am from Wisconsin and usually guess that I am from California, or somewhere similar. I have always loved (and still love) West Coast rock/reggae music and enjoy playing it whether it's around a beach campfire, or on stage with a band. As an Anthropology major I am fascinated with different cultures and love experiencing them first hand. I prefer the emic approach; diving right in and participating in the customs and rituals of any respective culture. I am a very outgoing person who loves to talk as much as I do listen. I have a great sense of humor and enjoy banter with those who also enjoy. I love storytelling and people who can really convey a good tale, whether humorous, sad, or bizarre. Although I am very comfortable within myself, human interaction really makes me tick. Wherever I go, whether for a weekend or a decade, I always make connections with great people who make me yearn to return.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a very karmic way of being; meaning that I feel obligated to help those that help others, and to reciprocate kindness and generosity. When offered a place to stay I always am the first one to offer to cook (which I used to do for a profession), make drinks (I am a bartender!), clean, and help with chores. I was raised in a house where stuff needed to be done. Wood needed to be chopped and hauled, fires needed to be built and kept going, food needed to be prepared, etc, and that is a mentality that I live with.

Guitar & Vocal, Jamming, and Making Music. I love skiing in fresh powder, playing disc golf, and beaching it. I am looking forward to becoming a proficient surfer!

Books: Anything Hunter S. Thompson. Where The Buffalo Roam, Fear and Loathing/on the Campaign Trail. I also enjoy anything classic: Steinbeck, Hemingway, ect. I am currently reading The Log From The Sea Of Cortez by Steinbeck.

Music: Sublime, Slightly Stoopid, Rebelution, Pepper, Natural Heights, The Movement, Atmosphere, Brother Ali, G Love, Mike Pinto. Any rock/reggae, real hip-hop (with real lyrics), bluegrass, as well as anyone with REAL talent. I love oldies too as I was raised on Hendrix, The Stones, Joplin, ect.

Movies: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, The Big Lebowski, Pulp Fiction, ect.
