About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Travelling through Italy, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Holland, France and Spain. Can't go wrong!
ABOUT ME
Well, this is kinda weird since I usually prefer letting people take their own conclusions, but let's see..
I live right in the edge of Europe, in the heart of Lisbon. There you can see me riding my bicycle everyday a bunch of Km to do my everyday stuff. I don't like to depend on public transportation, schedules and all that boring/stressful stuff, so I don't use them at all.
I play guitar in a couple of unknown bands, and that's one of the things I love the most. I love gigging around the country and meet people with similar tastes. I book shows too, hosting touring bands from all over the world or giving a chance to local ones so they can show what they're worth (my bands included). All this without sponsors/corporate aids, just me and helpful friends having fun while seeing the bands we like, DIY. From that point of view, I've been sort of a "couchsurfing host" for a lot of cool guys&girls from a lot of different countries, haha.
5 years ago I decided to go vegetarian since I started to be deeply concerned about animal rights and sustainable living. I try to eat only vegan food, with no animal products or dairy. I would be glad to cook vegan food for you if you feel like giving it a try! One of the things I would like to accomplish in life is working in a vegan cafe or restaurant.
I see myself as a free thinker and try to avoid all dogmatic, traditional or authoritarian points of view. We should question everything and if we don't feel comfortable about some issue, one should definitely stand up for himself/herself and do something about it. I believe that if we want to see some change in the world, we have to start it inside ourselves, changing our habits, our interactions with other people, etc. That's why I ride a bike in a city full of noisy and smelly cars, that's why I eat vegetables in this meat-eating world and that's why I book punk shows in a country where most of the people listen to mainstream pre-fabricated music. Think globally, act locally.
Right now I'm working as a freelancer programmer/web developer and just finnished my degree in Computer Engineering. I'm really interested about the Free Software and Open source movements and of course, I'm a Linux user.
I like to read books and watch movies and docs. If you have something to teach me, I would love to learn it too!
PHILOSOPHY
DIY. If you really want to do something, just do it, and don't wait for anyone to do it for you. Doesn't matter how society says and how kind of pressure they put into you, don't let them tell you what you can't be or what you can't do. If you keep that in mind and follow it to the bone, nothing is impossible. Take back your life.
Also, I don't trust or believe in any kind of authority. I don't follow no gods or masters and don't believe in sheeps and shepherds. I don't think a government could ever represent me since I am the most truthful representation of myself.
I don't believe in borders or races. I believe in true equality, despite the race, gender, color or specie. I judge people for their behaviour, not their looks.
My biggest fear is getting old and realize I didn't accomplish all I had to accomplish, or experience all I would like to experience. Living life to the fullest is certainly one of my mottos.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My flat is really tiny, but in a pretty nice location. Maybe I'll be able to host you, who knows! :)
I like to travel around when i can, so if you could borrow me your couch for one night, that would be awesome!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I didn't use Couchsurfing before, but already got into similar situations while travelling.
I love to meet new people since I think we live in a boring world where we see, feel and touch thousands of different people each day, but still we are limited to a few basic interactions, almost mechanic, just the necessary to keep this big and messy machine called world running. It's a pity since we have so much to learn from each other.

Music, Movies, and Books
I really like to watch indie movies since I'm growing tired of all the hollywood crap (even though sometimes they come up with a few good ones). I like philosophical movies or any movie which can make me think. Twist ends are welcome, and nonlinear storylines too. I appreciate surrealist cinema too and I love a good old school horror movie. I see Docs as a good source of knowledge.
I'm reallyyyy into good music (hahaha). I like to listen (and play) a lot of styles of music, being punk/harcore the one I love the most. When I'm not listening to punk (and its millions of subtypes or variations), I listen to hip hop, post rock, metal, folk, jazz, celtic or even classic music.
Reading is one of the activities I like the most. Some of my favorite writers are Georgle Orwell, Henry David Thoreau, Philip Pullman and Tolkien.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think that would be the moment I realized how powerful I am and how I could just grab life by my own hands and do whatever I would like.
And I owe it to Hardcore Punk, no doubt.
Teach, Learn, Share
Hum.... I know a thing or two about bike mechanics so I can fix yours if you need. Or maybe you don't know how to ride one and I could teach you!
If you have any questions about vegan ethics or diet, I would be glad to talk about it with you. I could even teach you some vegan recipes!
I give guitar lessons here in Portugal. I'm afraid I can't teach you playing an instrument within a couple of days, but I could give you some tips. Hardcore Punk music and the DIY scene has teach me a lot of usefull things involving setting up shows, building a record label, writing a fanzine, making your own clothes and I'll be happy to share it with you.
I'm a portuguese native speaker and I can teach you some words if you'd like. I speak spanish well enough too, so just ask me!
I know how to program in Java, C, Haskell, Shellscript, Prolog, Jess, OWL, PHP, HTML, JavaScript, Assembly so I could teach you the basics. I know something about 3d Modeling, Flash and even Photoshop.
