About Me

Hi!
I am Noémie, 22 years old student.
I just came back from a year of travelling in a van, touring the United States and Canada. We called it The Trust Happiness Bus Tour, because we tried to volunteer everytime we could and offer help at every stop. It was the most amazing time of my life. My breathe was taken away all year long, by all I saw, but also, and mostly, by the people who shared the adventure. I knew that by giving out positive energy, I would feel good, but I wasn't expecting to be so overwhelmed by kindness. I felt in harmony with my environment, my life, the ones surrounding me and myself.

Now that we are back, I moved in Montréal, in an appartment with two of my friends and I'm trying my best to reapply what I learned during the year to my daily life.

I would describe myself as authentic and easy-going. I am a political science student and artist.
I appreciate spirited conversations, people who are both interested and interesting, unknown stories, good coffee and fine beers. Also, I am queer, and so are a lot of my friends, I am absolutely intolerant with homophobia.

***NOTE: I will priorize solo or duo woman travellers, because I know how it is to travel as a woman and even if couchsurfing in an amazing community, it still stays risky to use it alone. Often it's not dangerous, it's mostly just annoying to be hit on at every couch. We are an appartment of three girls, it is a safe place and I'd prefer you to be here than elsewhere pretending you don't see your host's advances.***
***2nd NOTE: Please, only contact me a couple days before your arrival. I do not know if I'm available in 2 weeks or a month! Honestly, with most couchsurfers, you will have more luck this way, because rarely do people plan in advance their life to host! I will gladly accept requests for the next week or even the next day!***

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I promised myself that as soon as I could, I would host to give back all the love and care I received. Also, as I can't travel for a little while, it permits me to continue meeting travellers -which are often the most incredible people- and travelling a little by their stories.

Interests

I am a vegetarian and I am very interested in simple living, organic, non-gmo, perma-culture and any other way to eat and live ecologically. So if you are informed in that domain, please tell!
I also have a little workshop to paint and draw if you are interested!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Revamp a 85' Dodge Ram Van during a summer into a little rolling home and use it to do the whole tour of the US
Help to build a house in recycled materials in New Orleans
Teach art to refugee's children in Portland
Live in a community in Seattle
Sleep in the van in the middle of Jasper's glaciers
Ride a dune boogie at midnight in Phoenix desert as a gift for my birthday from someone I just met
Climb to the Machu Pichu
Sandboard in the desert in Peru
Zipline in the jungle in Ecuador
Eat a couscous in eternal snow on the top of a mountain in Morocco, then ride a camel and sleep in the Sahara.
Hitchhike the whole hwy1 in California with and make everyone who picked us up sign our ukulele until we walk across the mexican border
Make pastas in a real familia in Milan (and being really bad at it)
Explore Roma in scooter

Teach, Learn, Share

I just arrived in Montréal, but I know it pretty well and can definitly show you cool spots!
I can teach you french but I've been told I have a strong quebecor accent!
If you speak french, I'd be glad to bring you to an improv show, I know pretty much everything that is happening on that scene
I also work in a micro-brewery and am knowledgable in that domain if you want to go grab a good beer :) We also live next to a micro-brewed beer boutique!

What I Can Share with Hosts

You would be living in our art studio, where there is a confortable futon!
If I am available, I would be glad if we share a meal too and activities, but I might host you even if I am less free, so at least we meet and you get to sleep safely!
