About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm living in the short term..striving for the moment..almost there!

ABOUT ME

Daughter of a free-lance sports writer and novelist-poet (unpublished) who was an environmentalist before it was fashionable...my parents took our family all over the US and Canada both traveling and living.
Although it took me a while I have become pretty politically active, working for social justice and a sane foreign policy.
I work to live. If I didn't have to make a living I'd be working full time on the political scene.
I have varied interests, mostly in the arts.
My friends are diverse. They don't always like one another. Yet another reason why it is an advantage in this world to have good manners.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to live graciously, not ostentatiously, I treasure my friends more than my possessions.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything by Kapucinski, Joan Didion, Jorge Amado, Laurence Durrell....
Art films, mostly foreign. I have volunteered every March to work the Latino Film Festival in San Diego.
I attend a lot of local theatre, have a friend at the box office of a local art house cinema..Some of the librarians know me downtown. We read by the pound in this house.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

traveling halfway across the USA and back on $10-(yes it was a while back)...Marching on Washington DC in a big anti-war event a few Septembers past..
Spent my 1st solo trip (3.5 weeks) abroad in Portugal visiting obscure towns on train & bus..saw my first ossuary chapel in Evora..red lights on the bones.
