About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To continue to meet amazing people, experience fresh ideas, discover new things, see new places, and spread positivity.

ABOUT ME

So sorry to those who have requested that I never responded to. I get a lot of requests to host, but oftentimes I'm either traveling or my place is unavailable so please don't be offended if I do not respond to your request in a timely manners. If I am available to host I'll reach out and hopefully you'll not only have a great place to stay while here, but also you'll have made a new friend! If I'm unable to host you, then I hope you find great hosts and enjoy your stay in New Orleans. Here's my place: http://www.bethaniephotography.com/Gallery/Shays/n-NjFCb/i-BbKMHF2/A

I'm a practical optimist - the glass is always full. I love to make peoples' experiences just a little bit better and bring smiles to those I am lucky enough to meet. I love to provoke thought and enjoy being an influence - pushing people to try new things, consider new perspectives, abandon their safety zones, and live moments to the fullest.

I believe we all make a difference and can change the world. I live for good music, adventure, family, and open honest friendships. I'm guided by a strong moral compass built on love, compassion, and open mindedness. This planet is a playground and we only have so much time to play on it and make it better for those around us so I'm all for trying new things, traveling to new places, and meeting new friends.

PHILOSOPHY

LOVE MORE / FEAR LESS

Life's journey is not to arrive in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "Holy Shit... What a ride!"

Also, as Rudyard Kipling wrote, ""Of all the liars in the world sometimes the worst are our own fears."

Finally, don't be afraid to seek answers and true knowledge. It is each of our responsibility and obligation to not accept what we are told and to understand that the world may not be what you think it is - that the mainstream media is not designed to inform with truth, and that the truth is sometimes very hard to accept because it can be ugly. Learning, seeking, and understanding the world we live in is the only way to raise healthy, safe children in this world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

To date, I've only hosted as we have a neat place right in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans, LA, but this year I'm hitting the road and will take some time to experience the other side of CS.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was one of the original TV hosts for the X Games for ten summers and four winter games. I created what became the global professional action sports tour featuring skateboarding, BMX, Inline skating, and Freestyle Moto and had the opportunity to produce events all over the world. That was a blast!

For the past two years I have run and organized a large Burning Man theme camp. Our camp, Trifucta, with more than 250 campers, is a family of people interested in great music, play, and sharing fun.

Teach, Learn, Share

Since so many of you are spread all across this beautiful planet I figured you ought to know what it really looks like. Enjoy!!

What I Can Share with Hosts

If I'm not very available, I can still send you on some fun and amazing adventures that only locals may know about or connect you with awesome local friends to be adventure mates. If I am around then I love to get to know my guests, share insights, philosophies, and interests, and go on adventures with them. Also, my place is super comfortable and right in the heart of the French Quarter so it is perfect to have a rich New Orleans experience.
